Queue timers

I'm pretty new to this game, last time I played was season 4 and a little has changed since then. I'm not able to play in ranked yet because I'm a noob, and I'm playing the basic draft mode. However, I keep accidentally hitting myself with a 6 minute or so queue timer. When you are selecting your champion you get 30 seconds (I think?) to choose your champion and lock in. So I click which one I want, and go back to watching youtube or whatever else I'm doing until the game starts. Then I come back because I forgot to click lock in. I know it's not that hard to remember it, but I am new to the mode and it has happened a few times if I'm not paying enough attention. What's the point in it? There's only a 30 second timer. It's not like it's wasting an ass ton of time. It's not a huge deal but slightly annoying to people who forgot to click it. Not to mention the lobbies that were ended because someone else undoubtedly did the same thing I do. Also this has probably been posted before but this is my first time using the forum and not sure how it works.

I just did it again. I was supp role and last second my adc said he was going supp. (He was first pick and picked nunu) I immediately clicked lucian before timer went off. 15 minute queue timer.
