My mid lane sat AFK last game, and I was demoted.
I was demoted for losing a 4v5...
I really want to know why it is that I was punished for losing an unfair game, my LP won't be given back to me even if that players gets punished. Im just so confused on why I've lost LP for someone else's decision.

Why do you gain LP when you win against an enemy? Should Riot also take away all the LP you’ve won over the years because of enemy AFKs?
because there is no better option. It is not possible to offer leaver protection without it becoming an easily exploitable bailout for premades, high-ELO players, and low-pop regions.
Just imagine the toxicity that would result if one person quitting on purpose would make the other 4 unable to lose LP, if the intentional exploits are not enough.
If you didn't lose LP for unfair games then climbing would be way too easy. Is it fair to lose LP in a game where teammates feed? No. Why should a 4v5 because of someone being AFK be treated differently from a 4v5 because your midlaner is 0/10?
Hard truth it only takes 1 player to win but 5 players to lose, just saying. What's the diff if he was there but went 0 and 25 but you won ? Nothing
