Diamond ADC-Can't carry silver, wtf?

Matic··10 votes·22,326 views

I began season 4 in bronze 4. I ended season four in gold 4, and began season five in gold 3. I have now as of two days ago achieved diamond, and look to hopefuly climb even higher in the future. But how exactly did I do it? I personally think I got past a mental barrier that was preventing me from positioning well in team fights, and became a mechanically sound ADC. But the issue in all of this is one thing. When I play in my smurf account in silver one, I actually can't carry. In fact, I even have a negative KD. Not a negative KDA though. What is this Elo Hell? Have I not ascended higher than this scrub elo that is silver? Is this why even doublelift duod when he smurfed in low elo? Is this why smurfs duo in low elo in general? Or am I just bad? This is a completely serious post btw.

Tl;dr I'm diamond, cant carry silver, why can't I carry this elo on an adc?

It's a team game

You can carry more out of bronze/silver as support than in a carry position, simply because everyone sucks being a support in bronze/silver... Once you get back into gold, then you could probably carry as an ADC.

ELO hell exists, the tricky part is figuring out how to get around it. I was bronze 3 a week ago (400 games in!!!), and I'm in divisions for Silver 4 now, and still going strong.

You overestimate your individual impact on games. A big aspect of being diamond is simply number of games played. 4 other players on your team have the potential to equally improve or ruin your chances of winning.

Part of what makes diamond players climb is that they know how to react to lessen their chances of losing the game when they lose lane. Reducing your negative impact on your team's chances to win. This skill won't help you carry despite improving your probability to win.

Conversely, at lower ELO many people do not have that knowledge or skill. They lose lane and continue to lose, hard, making it impossible for players who are doing merely acceptable to carry the game for them. You either snowball hard and win, or you play safe/smart and win just over 50% of your games.

its because adc needs peel for them and cant make plays directly for themselves, sure you can win lane hard and shut the enemy adc down, but it doesnt get your team mates to leave lane and 5v5 where you should have an edge because you earned a gold advantage and made the enemy adc really weak. but your team mates will still sejuani ult in the other direction, they'll run in 1v5 and die, they wont buy any wards at all, somehow the enemy team will manage a 4man gank bot lane and your sup is oom for some mystical reason.

so what it really comes down to are you prepared to 1v5? no? then you need a team to win the game. and just straight up the only way to leave silver is with sheer number of games plays. thats it. you hope theres an equal amount of feeders on red/blue and you get feeders in promos 50% of those games and great, you just went up.

people in silver are capable players, they just dont work well together or understand the concept of grouping/objective taking. its beyond them, thats why they're in silver.

the difference between low gold and silver players is just cs, thats it, its the same skill level.

for the longest time my MMR was gold level but i couldn't leave silver 1 because i couldn't win 4/6 games, i would constantly get sent back to promos lose 3 and have to climb a bit again. i was consistently playing with g3 players on both sides myself being s1. this was because that was my skill level at the time and all ranked games are based on MMR.

(what logic is it that if im silver 1 promotional matches that the other 9/10 players are all gold 3 players) asking me to win 4/6 games at the g3 level would mean that im effectivley higher than g3...... not just silver 1.

check your MMR rating on na.op.gg then check yourself during game loading on lolnexus.com and see what division/league everyone in your match is in on your smurf.

it could be, because you cnt adapt to players worse than you on your team. this is something that happens a lot to me in normals, where players of a lot of different skill levels come together.

you make a play and expect a thresh lantern where isnt one, so you die. you expect your team to perform certain actions that they wont perform, like proper peeling, kiting and rotation of cc. you can get yourself baited into bad situations, because you expected cooperation from your team, and they are too inexperienced or not skilled enough to understand what youre trying to do.

i can see something like that being an issue. it sucks, but the only way to deal with that is to announce in chat what youre trying to do. every single time, at least when its possible. which wont always be the case. or literally play like you dont expect any support.

I can carry with tanks in diamond elo and currently in promo for d4 but not in gold. But holy fuck gold players are bad. 15% of players are smurfs but its on both side so that isnt a problem. They simply completely refuse to listen to your calls even though you tell them it in chat and its very easy. You cant carry with normal champions. You have to play something with very high damage or burst damage like twitch, kata, illaoi. The problem is as usual the jungler and the adc so you have to take one of the roles to make sure you dont get a first timer. It's insanely hard to carry them. Support thinks they are good if he manages to make good engages but then peel is missing completely out. And if adc doesnt have damage they just leave, with this playstyles adc never gets damage. And he is not able to see the problem in it. For some reason low elo players think diamond players are gonna dodge everything and get fed every game. Well they would if it werent for the team.

Personally i dont think its fun to play in low elo. Players will flame you for the most stupid reasons and they cant see a their own problems and how much impact it can have. Fx i had a master yi that ganked and dived (complete overextend). I try to help him and we all die. Enemy adc is 3/0/0. And now im the idiot and bad player because the enemy is fed and i cant do shit. I personally every time i see a yi ask him to not gank my lane.

ADC is probably the worst role to climb with. It is an important role, but it is the only role that cannot help other lanes and most of the time relies on your team mates to protect you. Of course if you play like Draven or Vayne and become a god there is no stopping you. But with the current meta of tanks, your team needs to be atleast even for you to do enough in team fights.

I've made a couple of "only-accounts", played Blitzcrank only to diamond and it was very easy, played Draven only to diamond and it took me almost twice as many games.

The problem for ADCs is they have to stay in lane, can't roam or help other lanes.

Theres more to the game than your personal performance, if you don't make calls your just a silver with an exceptional game.

Plus as ADC you are more easily punished by your allies mistakes, no peel, no wards, etc.

I make new accounts all the time.

People in the lower brackets don't know what to do in said roles.

Example: as an ADC you don't carry bot lane the support does. So if the support doesn't know what he or she is doing your going to lose lane.

Same goes for junglers and mid. Both can have a big impact in the game, but in low elos they just farm while the other team already ganked a lane 5 times with rotations from the mid and junlger.

low elo bot lane has the least impact in game

Because silver is full of plat/diamonds competing against each other instead of getting the F out our elo and letting us climb.

Silver is the hardest elo, you fight plat/diamonds whilst having bronzies on your team or vice versa, near impossible to stay consistent.

I swear this is the hardest elo, after you get to gold its easy peezy smooth sailing and plat is a bit like silver again except your team is always good and even.

Maybe it's just a few bad games. I'm also diamond and on my silver smurf, it was really easy for me to carry just because I see so many mistake my enemies make, and I punish them hard for it

You probably don't deserve diamond then and just went on a really lucky winning streak to diamond as i really doubt too that you have the skill Lvl of a diamond player after just one year of playing. It's also a team game and RANK means nothing besides a shiny barrier around your name. Your also playing adc who gets baby sat for the entire game and if your team doesn't baby sit you, your probably gonna die

ADC is just a nightmare in low ELO. You get team comps full of assasins and skirmishers aside from ADC and you go into a game with no peel, no engage, and wonder where your CS lead went when teamfights happen and everyone just dives you with no resistance. I have a smurf account and i will hard carry from the support role because I just go into a game expecting a few autos every fight from the ADC and play around that mentality. Ezreal is not bad to play in silver along with lucian and tristana because of their safety. Being able to reposition yourself is more important than doing damage because youll survive longer.

You probably have an incorrect mentality on this Low elo players are extremely exploitable due to them making tons of mistakes left and right Do not play league like you do at higher elos where you shoild respect your opponents

I had no issue curbstomping on a smurf account because of the fact that low elos make so many mistakes, pick strong early champions, be aggressive, put yourself into situations where the outcome is dependant on your skill vs enemy skill to get ahead early

Even a challenger player cant win a game where 3-4 teammates feed early
