I Get Ganked A Lot, Any Tips?

Hi,

I play league of legends a lot and even tho I am not in higher elo I'd like to think I have at least some understanding of how the game is supposed to be played. Not to mention I have pretty good mechanics and lane well if it wasn't for my issue of getting ganked a lot. I understand that ganking is an important part of the game and it happens to everyone but to me it really feels like I experience a special phenomenon every game I play. I primarily play as top and jungle but I like to play many champs in many different roles and in my experience no matter what champion I play in whatever position I play them (top, mid, support, adc) I get a lot of pressure from both the enemy mid and jungle and no one on my team even looks at my lane. I don't complain about it or flame my team I just kind of think it is odd and I am wondering if I am missing something. For example, if I play adc and play aggressively early and get some good trades off and start zoning the enemy laners from farm as well as pushing the wave eventually someone comes to stop me whether it is the enemy mid, enemy jungler, or both which is to my understanding to be expected as I am out of position so as a result I fight when I can but for the most part I play passive as to avoid getting ganked. However, when the tables are turned something very different happens. Lets say I am the one getting bullied early on and as a result get zoned off of cs and the wave is pushed towards my tower. No matter how close the enemy laner is to my tower (even auto attacking it at the worst of times) nothing happens to them. We could have a pink in the bot lane tri ensuring they can't see a gank coming that easily and it won't matter NO ONE comes, not the friendly jungler not the friendly mid NO ONE. However, saying that no one shows up isn't exactly true as after around 10-15 minutes of the enemy laners playing as far up as they can I am still the one to get ganked. Whether it's getting dove by the enemy jungler, enemy mid and jungler, or sometimes all 5 enemies the enemy team still ganks my lane first. This happens in top, mid, and bot respectively with the enemy support taking the place of the mid laner if I am mid. Game after game of this kind of lose lose where either I try to get a lead (and sometimes do get one) by playing up and get ganked until the lane is even or I am losing again or I play passive until I get dove and lose lane that way. Every now and again I'll see the gank coming either because of wards I have up or friendly MIA pings and either be able to avoid it or even turn it and get a lead off of it but most of the time it turns out negative. To reiterate again, this happens in almost every single game with rare exceptions and I play all sorts of champions from mid lane assassins and mages to top lane fighters tanks and juggernauts as well as support and adc champions so it can't be an issue with it being hard to gank for a specific champion I play. If I play mid top and bot get friendly pressure and I get camped, if I play top mid and bot get pressure and I get camped, and you guessed it if I play bot top and mid get pressure and I get camped. I really would like someone to tell me I am making a simple mistake or something because it is really starting to get to me and the game just isn't fun watching people play very agro and nothing happen while I cower in fear of getting ganked even under my own tower. It is almost as if I am forced to play jungle to enjoy the game and I usually end up carrying and doing well when I jungle but I want to play other roles. I am open to criticism and questions just please help me.

P.S. this is every game I play win or lose, my lane gets ravaged by pressure and either I deal with it well by warding and avoiding the ganks and manage to stabilize or I don't and end up feeding

If I may give you an advice, try to structurate your thoughts and writting. Nobody likes to read an enormous stack of lines like this, speech needs breaks and space, to breathe, just like writting.

I didn't read your post because of this but what I can tell you is the following :

  • look at the mini-map every 5 seconds minimum. I personnaly do it every 3 seconds in average
  • try to guess the jungle path of the enemy, according to his champ (did he start red or blue buff), he is gonna afk farm until 6 (Shyvana, Fiddlestick, Graves, Rengar, etc...)

  • look at your own jungler, you can have informations about the other one. I don't know at what elo you are, but jungle mains pretty much do the same thing in their respective jungle. Few take risks, aside from high Diamonds, Masters and Challs.

  • look at the other lanes. If your toplaner is rather advanced on his lane with a lot of allies minions, it's gonna push towards the enemy tower. Therefore, the enemy jungle has much more chances to gank that lane, so yours is safe for now and you can take a trade or something.

  • it seems obvious, but use pings and pay attention to your allies's pings. Taking informations is the number one rule in League, so you know what to do at that instant, what is more important : trade, ward or set up the wave.

  • and of course, use all your wards as soon as you can. There are always too much bushes.

That's some things that came across my mind. But if you have something more precise to ask, do it, but with clarity and summarization.

I’m sorry my writing was not well structured I was pretty tired while writing it and didn’t want to go through the trouble of editing too much. However, thank you for the tips anyway and I appreciate the response even tho you didn’t read the post.

As a plat 3 mid laner I suggest:

  • Looking at the map every second

  • Ward deeper into the river so when you spot someone you have more time to react

  • Don't be too aggressive, if you push your lane be sure not to overextend without knowing the location of the enemy jungler

  • Be sure of what the enemy champions are capable of, if you're playing against someone who has tons of cc chances are you get ganked more often

  • Don't rely on your teammates, play as if it was 1v2

  • If your other lanes are winning, play around them, play passively and don't get the enemy fed

There are many great guides for your problems, just look them up and study them. Either way hope this helped.

Thank you for the advice I will try to pay more attention to details like that and use my map more which is something I struggle with.

Map Awareness is seriously like 75% of the game. I'm terrible at it. I tunnel vision, I don't get ganked often but I know the feels. Also know you can make the map bigger in the in game options screen. That might help you recognize things. Also I upped the size of my monitor and that has made a huge difference in my ability to react and read the map. If your playing on some small screen it's even harder to recognize things that blip onto/off of the map quickly.

I learned a TON of stuff by just watching some youtube vids. Favorite guy is Solorenektononly - he explains lane pressure, and map awareness and a bunch of other little things (usually about each champion he's playing/playing against). Helped me a ton when it's explained and showed at the same time.
