Curious here why did Malphite get so good with the new changes?

I see that Malphite shot up in win rate and play %. I also have faced a Malphite who completely just kicked ass, i am just curious to what changed to help improve so much?

Less Armor penetration (LW items are not as efficient as before until your bonus Armor exceeds 7 times your base Armor - which is very hard even for Malphite).

Frozen Fist now scales with Armor.

Since everyone wants to test the new AD items (and APs are claimed to be heavily nerfed), teams with lots of AD are common. Guess what Malph loves as enemies?

The meta is AD heavy right now, and those ADs are squishy. Malphite's base dmg is fairly high on his AOE spells, and his kit counters ADs- Free armor on W and E is AS slow. he also scalles off of armor on his W, so it's pretty win when he can stack armor, and maybe 1 mpen item

I don't think he became stronger at all. If anything he is weaker, because armor items cost more. But people are playing AD every role now, so he thrives.

AD rework made Rammus and Malphite easiest win champions. People cry that Yasuo is broken now, but all it takes is Malphite or Rammus to counter him easily, and they are so easy to play + Yasuos popularity, they are gonna have hugeee win rate.

He was really good last few patches as well due to the popularity of AD tops like Fiora and Darius .

Games are shorter so the enemy team has less time to buy armor pen He gets damage for building armor Iceborn gives 20% cdr now Yasuo is played more so the ult combo is more common
