I am glad to hear that they have implemented the hextex into Aram, but it is kind of bull that we are not able to get the chest because we do not own a champ because of the way aram works you are more likely to get a free week champ. If we are not able to get a box chest on a free week champ then apply them to other champs we have. We earned them and we deserve the boxes in my opinion.

That is only true if you own a small champion pool. The more you own, the less likely that becomes.

You complaint is invalid since you can't earn chests yet in ARAMs, only fragments from wins.

I was actually awarded a chest from playing ARAM, however I was playing a free to play champ that I did not own and the chest was not given to me.
Minarde1 votesCurrent speculation is that that message actually means you would've earned a key fragment if you weren't playing a free-week champ. The system might be defaulting to the "chest drop error notification" either because of a bug or because the designers simply assumed chests would be available everywhere keys are.

Well I just played an aram to verify. We are still not receiving ranks from playing arams. So while you may have gotten a message, you can not receive chests in ARAMs currently. It is based upon getting mastery ranks which is not currently possible in ARAMs.
As the poster above me stated, it appears to be a bug/improper message.

ARAM is already infested with ARAM only accounts where they only have like a couple champions to play with (usually those who work well in ARAM) so to give access to hextech in champions you don't own would just fill the queue with more ARAM only account and probably bot accounts because ARAM is the fasting mode to finish.
