Having Trouble With Khazix In Team Fights

Hey ive picked up khazix recently and i like him. But I feel like theres one area that really screws him....and thats team fights. I feel like theres really not much you can do as khazix in a team fight.....if you go in being a glass cannon youll get blown up so quickly that by the team you try to fly away your already dead before you finger hits the e button. And with team fights making up a huge portion of the game...i feel like its a serious problem he faces...it may not even be the team fighting thats the problem....it could be that he just does no dmg at all if there not isolated...hes loses in 2v2 3v3 4v4 and 5v5...he only wins 1v1s. Which means 4/5 fights he gets into hes going to get shit on. I feel like hes a good jgler....his ganks are very nice.....and in a 1v1 setting hes godlike. But the problem is in this meta...nobody ever 1v1s. As soon as laning phase is over the teams group up and run straight down the middle into a blood bath.....they die...respawn and rinse and repeat intil the match is over. Khazix feels so bad in team fights and with team fights making up 80% of the game in this meta..... how is he going to be viable? Is he a champion i can even play in ranked? Maybe theres something i dont know that you guys do. Ill give you some info too go off of. Im a s1 khazix(i didnt get there by playing him though) i go stalkers blade into tiamet into ghostblade and than the rest is situaitional. But i always go really damage heavy. I run thunderlords and offensive masteries.....i have armor pen marks...armor seals...magic resist glyphs and attack damage quints. The questions i want answered are: 1 Is khazix viable in ranked in s6? 2 How do i deal with khazix weakness(which is he does no dmg in any setting other than a 1v1 on an isolated target) 3 What are some tricks and strategies i can do with khazix to improve my gameplay?

Kha'Zix sort of has "Shaco Syndrome" in that, if there's not an opportunity to pick somebody off alone, he loses a lot of power. Shaco, however, has the utility of his boxes to fall back on, and can sort of dance around the edge of teamfights and just poke people with his shiv.

Kha unfortunately lacks the insta-deletion power Rengar has; it's locked behind people being isolated. So when people are clumped together, you can't isolate them. if they can't be isolated, you lose a big chunk of your damage.

Here's what you CAN do. Tiamat was changed back so it has its old passive again, which means Kha'zix regained a lot of his pushing power. If you evolve your wings, Kha'zix ALSO has a really reliable, powerful escape. If you find that you can't do anything in teamfights, then you need to look for opportunities to split push. One of two things will happen. The enemy will either:

A) Send one or two team-members to try and stop your split push (giving you a heavy advantage, since you stand a better chance of isolating and picking somebody off, and also betters the odds for your team)

B) Their entire team (or most of it) will try and collapse in on you to stop the split, and force a 4v5 while you're dead. This can be a very tricky situation to handle, but Kha'Zix has the tools he needs to survive that kind of collapse, assuming you play smart (make use of vision wards/trinket to keep vision of the area around where you're splitting, then use leap to GTFO if people start to collapse in). If the enemy team goes for the second option, then you need to be able to play smart, or you WILL get caught out and deleted. But if you make use of Kha's mobility and stealth, you should generally be okay.

Your other option is to wait until the enemy team engages in what they think is a 4v5, and then try to go in and clean up once the enemies are low enough that you can get some kills/assists (and leap resets). However, if your team is behind and consistently getting destroyed in teamfights, this isn't really an option.

You CAN evolve your spike racks and just try to stand at the edge of a confrontation, and then wait until their marskman/assassin is unprotected when their frontline moves into engage...But this isn't reliable. And if it's a hypercarry marskman and you aren't fed, it's going to be really hard to assasinate them in the span of time you have between the enemy frontline engaging, and the enemy frontline turning around to squash you. If you can kill the marskman though, you can leap to safety and reposition (using your ult as necessary).

By his nature Khaz is not a teamfight friendly champion. He thrives on getting picks. Unfortunately, there's no silver bullet to that problem. But if you get good and smart about split-pushing, you can make yourself a real nuisance to the enemy team, and force objectives to help your team win the game.

I hope this was helpful!

Edit: I know this is league of thunderlords, but I honestly feel like stormraider's surge is better on Khazix. Personal preference, but Kha relies on chasing people down and getting leap resets. Stormraider's surge (with the movespeed buff and slow resistance) combined with leap and Kha's ult (along with chilling smite) means people have a REALLY hard time running away from you.

...there is also a third option, which is:

C) The enemy team totally ignores you and pushes down middle lane.

If this happens...Well, you'll probably secure an objective or two if they outirght ignore you. EVENTUALLY, they will have to acknowledge your split push, unless you're taking a really, REALLY long time to splitpush, in which case they may end the game before you take anything.

Well, I played a bit of Kha (spammed hit for a week straight) a while back, so here's my experience.

Teamfights, as with all assassins, are not to be jumped in to. Never initiate. Have your front line do this, and when all their cooldowns are blown, jump in, go for the isolated ones (the range on isolation is tiny! Even in facing off teamfights there's always at least 1 who's isolated.). Q in mid air, rav, resets, blah blah blah, and do your stuff normally.

This worked pretty well for me :P Your sustained damage isn't bad with 300+ dmg autos and 400+ damage Q on a 3 second CD, so just remember you aren't the front line. Don't soak up damage if you don't have to. You can probably outduel, being an AD assassin with Youmuu's (remember you can use it for AS as well, I see too many people burning it to get in range). Resets means huge mobility, and whatever.

It's best if you don't have to teamfight, though. Splitpush (easy with rav). Clear the wave, push it to their turret, then try to get a pick while they rotate to that lane.

He has an easier time in teamfights if you opt for a more bruiser-ish build rather than going straight glass-cannon.

I'd recommend trying something like the following build (order varies): item 3047 or item 3111 or item 3009, item 1408 or item 1412, item 3812, item 3071, item 3742, item 3156

Death's Dance provides good sustain and damage mitigation, Deadman's Plate and Maw of Malmortius provide good durability, and you have enough AD and CDR to murder targets.

During teamfights, I would recommend hanging around the edges until you spot an opportunity to pick off an isolated target or to clean-up low enemies. Kha'zix is an assassin, so he shouldn't be the first into a fight.
