How to get out of the groove of being support?

I feel bad when I play with friends because they automatically know I'll be supporting. I don't really like practicing as any other role in co-op games because there's always that one person that gets fed and takes every possible kill in sight. When I try ARAM, it seems like I get support champs every time! Should I stick to ARAM where it's not that serious?

aram only gives you champions that you own and the free ones of the week. so you either have only bought support champions, or you've had the worst luck ever.

if you dont want to support play team builder with a new role and champion and build your own team so that you figure out what works and what doesn't.

however i strongly recommend you start in AI to learn abilities and practice landing skill shots first. its way more important than feeding in normals. even if you go to the "wrong lane" i always took veigar top and i learned to land the stun/meteor prediction.

Solo queue. #1 way to make your bitch ass into a carry son! Do not trust your allies they will disappoint you. You and only you can achieve victory. Is that ally bleeding, well put him out of his misery, how? thats right go attack a forest monster! That random stranger over there is about to get a kill? okay jump in and take it, not steal it because stealing it would mean that the last hit doesn't give you ownership which it does, so don't get confused. Your ally will most likely whine, hold tab, use those mute buttons! Next once you farmed everywhere and gotten a nice pile of stacked coins, get some high output weapons and go for blood now that your thirst for gold has been quenched. rinse repeat till victory, but remember a real victory isn't simply winning, its walking around the battlefield using your enemy skull's for slippers.

Honestly, I think if you don't like playing support you should tell your friends that's not what you want to do an practice some roles in Team Builder an see what else you like or you should take a deeper look into the role your playing the majority in. You can really learn on how to control a game as support an you'd be surprised on how much influence you can have in games an essentially you can control a game. My opinion is biased because I main support an I find it to be my most enjoyed role to play. I sometime play other roles from time to time an I've learned to play other roles an looking at support from the view of other roles has played improvement in my play. Overall though you should do what you find fun.

That's the problem. I like playing support but it's not always fair when I play with friends; supporting is the only thing I can do.

You should tell them then you don't want to support or find a new group to play with that will allow you to experiment with other roles. Heck, I'll even play games with you if that makes the difference, its about fun and doing what you want. That's what help keeps you interested.

Play aram. Forces you to use different champs.

Keep practicing in AI mode. Soon you will be the one taking all the kills :p

Learn at least two reliable picks of every role. You don't have to be super good with all of them, but as long as you understand how the lane/role works as well as the kits of champs to figure out matchups you'll be golden.

Make sure your friends understand that you're wanting to branch out, and start picking things other than support.

As a support main I used to find myself safety picking a support for my team because it's what I am comfortable on, but lately I have been trying to branch out more. If I get first or second pick I will go top, adc, or sometimes even mid (jungle isn't really that great for me) just to experience a different play perspective and get better.

** It's all about making the confident decision to try another role and do your best in it.**

You could make a custom game where it's you and 4 AI against 5 AI, so you can take the game at your own pace.
