Possible Ranked Changes??

Hear me out... I was wondering some thoughts on how you play in the game affecting your LP loss during a lost game. Not gaining LP for losing but playing well, BUT at least softening the blow of huge LP loss based on how well you played in the game (grade wise/KP wise, etc.) So that if you get near promos or you're grinding and you run into a troll/flamer or even just an afk'er if you play well and do all you can to try and win the game, you at least don't lose AS MUCH LP as you would have before. A little help to motivate people not to just give up on a game after the first few kills. We've all dealt with problems like that before where you're playing well and someone goes afk and you have to 4v5 and you end up losing the game, maybe this could help solve a problem? Thoughts??

We've seen this idea time and time again, and it comes down to one crucial flaw: what defines "doing well"?

You could go 30/0/30 with 600 CS and 30 wards placed, but because you didn't prioritize the right objectives you let the enemy Support kill your Nexus while you were taking Elder Dragon. That loss would be completely your fault, and no amount of kills, cs, or objectives should minimize your loss.

Don't you think that if someone goes 30/0/30 with 600 CS and 30 placed wards deserves a blow softener? Because if somehow somebody got that kind of score and they still lost to the point where they had an open nexus while they tried to get an objective, imagine how poorly their team is doing across the board? Like I said, players that play like that deserve a softer LP loss since they did try to carry the game, and you shouldn't be looked at to 1v9 carry.

Like for example you say that would be, "your fault". How in the hell can you put the blame on someone that went 30/0/30 with 600 CS and 30 wards placed??? They did EVERYTHING they could to win that game, why would you have your most fed carry sit back while your team, that obviously is doing poorly, go for an objective and not be another person(possibly any other person) on the team sit back and defend against the backdoor support?

Best example I can think of is Nidalee. When she's in meta she usually snowballs and gets hella kills and assists, but later in the game she usually ends up dying a lot due to her not being as late-game oriented.

By that logic a Nid main would be better of ksing all they can and then later in the game just sitting back the rest of the game no matter how their team is doing. The right system now forces people to end the game if they want the LP. Padding their score is a risk.

Along the same lines, late-game champs would become less valued by default, since physically less games get to late game than get to mid-game. People who play late-game champs would by default get less LP.

again, that's why I'm saying kill participation be a part of the algorithm. If the nid main is carrying throughout the game and doesn't do anything at the end you can see that her KP fell off in the late game. Thus, not giving her the blow softener by using the analytics in the algorithm.

I'm saying she'd still have high kill participation because she has the gold, but her team is behind so they can't kill much without her at least setting up an ambush. In that system, she's better of just doing 'nothing' and hovering around healing her teammates for assists and playing safe to preserve the blow softener until she gets a team that snowballs with her so that she can win a ton of LP that game.

No, I don't think they need a blow softener, because Kills, CS, and Objectives only serve one purpose: to help you kill the enemy Nexus.

they did try to carry the game

So did the guy who went 5/15/3 and lost. Are his efforts punished because he took the risky plays to try and give a chance to his losing team?

Additionally, you create a dangerous situation where people who suspect they are going to lose will be better off not fighting, since they'll harm their KDA and thus lose more LP, climbing slower in the long run. You'd get games that are less fun to play because it's more effective to climb that way.

That's why I'm saying add Kill participation in the algorithm. So that if you're a stubborn top laning Yasuo that just wants to sit up there and farm his top layer and saying "oh I won't lose LP my team is bad so I'll stay here" there's a kill participation and such in the algorithm so that they could see that he wasn't participating in team fights, thus not softening his blow. The guy that went 5/15/3 was a part of 8 out of 60 kills in your scenario. 8/60 is ridiculously low kill participation so that doesn't seem like he took any "risky" plays in the game. Looks like he was feeding.

8/60 is 13% KP btw. 13 percent, you're not convincing me that he was "making risky plays to help the team".

actually the 60 kills is assuming the carry had every single kill. So realistically the 5/15/3 person you're talking about had even LOWER kill participation, plus dying 15 times on top of it.

Sometimes you need a splitpusher to relieve pressure while the team gains stuff elsewhere. The above system also encourages FFing and DCing to cut losses and end the game sooner.
