Best Support to carry Gold?

Currently in Gold 5, used to be Gold 3. What is the best support to carry solo queue in this elo? Preferably a champion who does not rely on teammates too much, ex: thresh lantern. Any response is appreciated.

Granted I'm not gold, but I would assume anyone who's also a midlane mage would work well. Annie and Xerath are two I've seen in play support for a while. You'd be less leashed to buying time for your ADC in lategame combat like tanks often do, and if your ADC is ass you can become the carry if need be in lane.

Use Janna. You know why? Her mid game is insane. Just stay near mid lane. An enemy will chase someone on your team somewhere on the map. You go there and they die. And endgame, you're still insane since that noob that tries to tunnel someone that a Janna can protect is just going to end up being almost completely useless. As long as your team is in position with the tanks in the front and the squishies in the back then she is an absolute monster in teamfights. And yet she's one of the least reliant on good teammates IMO since you can stack mejai's a lot and give them such a huge advantage in fights that you can probably win them as long they have at least slightly decent positioning. And even if they enemies aren't out of position in how they fight she still has a huge impact on the fight.

And it's super easy to build her, too. Get sightstone, boots of mobility, mejai's, and talisman (if you started coin), with those in whatever order you want although I'd recommend getting the sightstone early, and then either frozen heart or locket depending on the enemy team. And then just make whatever you want from there lol. And upgrade your trinket.

Also her laning phase isn't that bad if they don't take advantage of it. Yes good players can, but they'll probably be more passive than they should be and let you get out of it only a handful of cs behind so you'll still be more useful than their bot lane after the laning phase even though they'll claim they won the lane. Remember you aren't really there to win the lane you're just there to not lose it by much.

Edit: Oh and also midgame you can look for either top or bot pushed. They don't even have to be fighting. Just roam there and they probably don't have enough map awareness to know you're coming until it's too late. Even if they've warded right by their lane you can probably get them killed anyways as it's extremely hard to run away from a Janna. Assume that if your abilities aren't on cooldown and you can get to an enemy 2v1 they're pretty much dead.

I have a very high Lulu support winrate atm i think 80% after 25 games this season and she is incredibly strong at peeling off enemies. High utility and can be built full CDR/utility and be as relevant as ever.

Braum with proper runes/masteries he doesn't know the meaning of damage, you can be poked over and over and HE wont care. Full hp tank and his Q damage will be HUGE because it scales off his own hp. Also, his passive is plain dumb early game, and creates a lot of pressure on enemy laners due to the "avoid the stacks syndrome".

Sona big damage and annoying poke, however she is incredibly squishy and will die very very quickly vs tanky "all-in" supports.

Most of my top suggestions have already been given, so I'll give you some different ideas.

Leona is good if you like an all in tank support, especially for first blood, though make sure your lane partner can follow up before you can dive. A manaless Lucian is a sad Lucian.

Nautilus has been poking his face around bot lane lately and is a big fat bully like Blitzcrank , even if the anchor doesn't pull them as far.

Velkoz because Trigonometry, and he has some decent poke and CC, then turns into a decent mage mid-late game, same with Brand, though with less triangles.

But do not play Bard. His gameplay has too many weaknesses and requires too much coordination than I can reasonably expect from solo queue.

I say it depends on your playstyle. Also, I feel like support can only do so much unless you go AP yourself. You will have to rely on your ADC to carry you late game in most matchs, so I say just pick ones that you find frustrating to play against. I'd say best bets are Blitzcrank Lulu Morgana. Here's some other suggestions for you.

If you enjoy engaging, Annie Leona Nautilus are good choices.

If you like disengage or my prefered term, cockblocking, then Janna Lulu Morgana Nami are for you.

If you want to carry yourself, go Brand Karma Nidalee Velkoz Zyra and just win lane.

If gold is the same as last season, Blitzcrank is pretty God Tier, since people can't dodge hooks for some reason. I don't know why it's so hard to put a ward into the bush he is camping in, but that 75g/item 3340 is too important to spend on not dying for some reason.
