East Coast Servers, Further Discussion

NA and EU stability update

The post I've linked to from February this past year (2014) had an update from sonicdeathmonk (VP of operations) regarding rolling out servers closer to the East coast where he specifically stated the timeline for delivery to be 'This year for sure, hopefully soon.' It's now 2015, and we're lacking both an improved East coast experience, or a definitive update on what the timeline actually looks like.

I've been privy to a decent amount of IT project management (and with that know all about the frequency of shifting timelines), but if the timeline was for the end of this year back in February, and it's changed, us East coast players deserve more communication on what's being done, and why the roll out has been delayed.

Acknowledging it as an issue and stating that you're working towards it and discussing it internally makes me happy, but I'm fairly certain that the timeline for the roll out has been being discussed internally for the past 2 years or so. I can see how technical and business requirements shift, but can you please keep us in the loop? Hearing the same thing over and over about the lack of a concrete plan for that length of time is incredibly exasperating for those of us that have been waiting since the start, and makes me lose faith that the problem is actually being prioritized adequately.

I've had problems with my ping both in Charleston, SC and Austin, TX (with Comcast in SC at 105 mbps down, and TWC in Austin at the same speed). I'm visiting my cousin in MS currently who has an account on the Latin America North servers. Watching him play let me see what it was like, and wow, it seems like playing with 60 ping is almost a whole new game. I'd love to be able to do that on my account, with english speaking players. I've spent a decent amount of money on this game, but I'm unlikely to spend any more. I'm trying to be as patient as I can, but to continually hear similar updates about how a timeline is being devised for this length of time makes me just want to pick up another game whenever I get upset with my connection.

I also want to apologize to any Riot employee that reads this, I know how frustrating it can be to want to provide help to players and not be able to do much (on an individual level) about it. Can we at the very least get an update (by the end of the month, I know a lot of folks are home for the holidays and hopefully enjoying them) on what's being done to improve the awesome experience that is League for those of us on the East coast?

"We also have truck loads of game servers built and waiting to be delivered closer to the Eastern US Coast as soon as we nail down the best place to put them to benefit the most NA players. This year for sure, hopefully soon."

Central US servers would improve Eastern US connections, we've received no update on either.
