I hate looking at the champ pool, and realizing if I want to have any semblance of fun

I can't use more than half of the champs. Going top lane with a melee that is not Irelia (not that I think she is OP, she is just able to hold her own against ranged) and getting perma kited and zoned from the creep wave is not fun. Then realizing that come midgame, you need to find a way to get to Trist , and stay on her, and re-engage because she ulted you, and now you're in the middle of the enemy team, so you better die trying to go 1 for 1, even though you know it won't happen because luluz 900 range resetting jump mechanic, and 1000 range AoE knockback. Going mid with someone with waveclear not on Orianna, Ziggs, or Syndra's level and farming from behind your turret is annoying, same for when Fizz is on enemy team, and if I am at 3/4 health he can kill me without his ult once he hits 6. Playing support is terrible because you are only as good as your ADC when it comes to team contribution during laning, and unless you have strong heals, or AP mid level poke you are irrelevant. Playing ADC and realizing that because you did not pick Tristana you are going to get hyperscaled on, and only have a fraction of her safety and DPS is terrible. Like playing against a ticking time bomb of anti-fun/cancer which goes off at 20+ assuming they did not get fed, or you did not pick Lucian so you can't hope to compete with his insane burst. Playing jungle and realizing that you are going to get invaded and get no farm because you chose someone with bad clears, or less than ideal clears sucks. Like each role has no more than 5 champion you can play with and reasonably expect to have fun with, because if you pick outside those 5, you can't compete with what you opponents choose. Champion pool of 120, and it feels like I can only play 25.

Really? I look at all of the 120 champions and feel like they all have something unique and viable about them. Except Alistar Sion Kayle . I hate them. But really, just because their kits take a little more adjustment doesn't mean they're bad champs.

Oh, and Tristana is the easiest ADC to lane against period. It's like Twitch pre-6, but she never hits that 6 mark, or Graves without his annoying Smog and a slower escape.

You're looking at things from the perspective of the meta.

The meta will revolve around about 3 champions per position--solo top, solo mid, carry bot, support bot and jungle--based usually upon what some professional-tier player did a while ago. On the one hand, it's often mindlessly following a trend; on the other, that pro player does know what they're doing, and some players can recognize why the pro used that strategy. A bit of it also has to do with buffs and nerfs, but more meta changes come from players watching players do things than from Riot nerfing something.

The vast majority of champions are actually viable and capable of doing amazing things, but the problem comes from not enough players working together to build a good team composition. You either get people who believe that the meta is the only way to play today, or people who won't work together properly. Solution: queue with friends and experiment.
