Why I uninstalled and why you should too.

So I finally made the decision to actually uninstall and just be done with this game for good.

I have been playing for several years now.

Here's a quick list of reasons I left and good reasons on why you should too:

  1. Riot encourages banned players to create new accounts.

Why exactly is that? The chat bans were far more effective for players because Smurfs from a higher elo don't ruin the experience for new players or just less skilled players in ranked or while leveling up. They stay where they are skill-wise and they don't get to be toxic because they can't talk.

  1. The community has been bread to feel obligated to be offended by everything.

In a world that already is babied, there are those people that will get offended to any sort of criticism to changing their play or cooperating with their team just because you called them out for not cooperating. If reporting was only limited to feeding/afk'ing/int'ing and the system was used to crack down harder on those players, the community would learn to either use the mute button or to suffer an insanely swifter consequence from a newly amp'd "tribunal."

  1. You have to choose between being competitive or playing with your friends.

As someone that was Diamond I am now forced to either have 5 friends to do ranked with or choose 1 other friend to play ranked with. I have no interest in normals because I get no feel of accomplishment or any feel that im improving as a player or working toward anything. Granted the majority of players are silver to gold, friendships can basically be lost just because someone doesn't want their friend holding them back or down. I've witnessed multiple moments where this is the case. BUT LoL does also create some friendships and bonds with others...but the fact of the matter is...I have to choose. I don't know any fix to this...since dynamic is already abused so badly as it is.

  1. Smurfs. Smurfs. Smurfs.

back in the day, smurfs didn't really exist, because everyone was new and mainly...just not good enough yet. Players get as high as they can and then just start over now because it's easier for them. One insanely easy way, and some people may not like it but it would INSANELY improve the problem of smurfs is to turn League of Legends in to a subscription-based game. Yup...I said it...hate me, but you can't deny the fact that people would stop making new accounts because they have to pay for it. Just like world of warcraft for example, when a Rank 1 gladiator decides to make a new character, they potentially ruin arena for other players. Most don't because of the fact of the subscription base. GRANTED arena matches are only like 5 minutes long as opposed to a potential hour...which brings me to my next point.

DISCLAIMER: I am not for making LoL sub based, but smurfing is actually slowly ruining the game and spreading toxicity to the junior players.

  1. Games were better. When they were shorter.

The game's meta has changed to this point where every game, unless youre completely dominating, has turned in to this close to hour long struggle instead of creating a game where an average game ends up being that 20 minutes or 30 minutes. It's unfortunate to say "I can't play guys I have to leave in an hour." I feel like the game is going that way, but I do play some MOBA Apps on my phone and I feel ZERO stress because games only last 10-15 minutes.

  1. I just don't enjoy the game anymore.

There's really no fix for this...I've been playing for a very long time and I am basically forcing myself to play. My friends are lower rank than me or have just lost interest in the game too.

I enjoyed LoL for the time being, but i've had it with the community, the lack of customer service, and the outrageous restrictions that are implemented in the game just to save someone's feeling that will be hurt for 10 minutes, people are ignorantly willing to report away YEARS of work from them when they've played THOUSANDS of games, but got reported in 10 of those thousands of games so thats it for them....it's sad to me. To report someone for talking crap to another person...it's actually insane to me.

Hence why I am now a Counter-Strike player :D I can talk all I want without the fear of reprimand and the community is MUCH nicer....hmm...maybe its the voice chat.

Oh...also when you put your funds toward a f***ing board game instead of your community. I don't want any part of the greed.

Goodbye peeps, for those of you not brainwashed by the system they have in place, Counter Strike.

P.S.

It's number 1-6..but...whatever.

I will give you that games are much longer now. In the past when there was less snowballing, oddly enough, I would tell people 'League takes 30 minutes or so'. Now I say "I cannot play, got an hour before work and League takes too long."

But otherwise, another QQ thread to be honest.

CHECK OUT MY POST HERE. I seem to share the sentiment with you, and was wondering if you agree with my ideas? Let me know!

  1. It's not that Riot encourages them to make new accounts, it's that they can't exactly stop people from making new accounts. Chat bans weren't changing behavior, and others have mentioned people who were chat banned restoring to trolling when they couldn't type their frustrations out any more.
  2. Never had a problem with what I say in chat.
  3. Competitive, for 90%+ of the player base, can be done with friends thanks to Dynamic Queue out Ranked Teams. They're splitting Dynamic and Solo Queue next year, and I think each one will have a septate rank, so that might be your fix.
  4. Being "down in the trenches", yeah, smurfs bug me to no end. I think that smurfing could be avoided to some extent by linking accounts together, with a "pick your incentive", such as sharing champion pools, sharing IP, instant level 30, etc.
  5. I agree, having to budget an hour (or more, with queue times and lobbies) to play a video game like League sucks. I like late game fights and comebacks though, so I'd want to see that stay... Just get here quicker.
  6. Honestly... Glad your enjoying Counter Strike! We're all gamers just trying to play games we love, glad you found a new one to dive into and enjoy. I generally don't like the FPS genre, as it's usually geared towards the twitchy reflex types, but the exception to that which I like is Mech Warrior Online. Maybe check that one out too.

I've been playing less then a month and am about ready to walk away from the game because of the amount of toxic players that base their self image on the outcome of an ARAM game.

Just a review from an actually new player that came from the toxic pit of Hearthstone.
