You know after 2 season of devourers.................

Dear riot,

After two season of devourers I don't see why the item is still in the game. You make statements that you want to push towards more team play, but this god forsaken shit item does quite the opposite. You might be asking how does it do that? Lets look at the interaction of the item.

Large monster takedowns grant 1 stack instead of 1 per kill. Epic monster takedowns grant 5 stacks instead of 1 per kill. Champion takedowns grant 1 stack instead of 2 per takedown. Rift Scuttler takedowns grant 2 stacks instead of 1 per kill. While stacking your Devourer, you are accompanied by a Ghost Dog who will grow with stacks. At 30 stacks, Ghost Dog merges with the wielder and the Devourer transforms into Sated Devourer

Now the first problem that anyone and everyone has with this item is the notion that junglers decide to never help their team until they are sated. Now in previous patches that could be argued to be a good thing because the game wasn't aimed to end as quickly and you could stall out. But in making changes to where the game will end sooner this item is obsolete. Based on the time length, on the non investment into deviating form assistance to lanes, and on the tradeoff that you get from ignoring your team versus helping your teammates.

So, in times past and still current it takes about 17 - 35minutes to get sated on devourers. The current estimated time of most games end up being nearly over 3 minutes after the average lowest time to get sated. With this being said why would it make any sense to take this item or benefit a team that is losing to hope on the player that is taking this item to turn anything around for them? If you were wanting to change this item this would be on particular aspect to look at and maybe address in making the item useful if not a main reason for scraping it all together.

Secondly, a jungler taking this item always feels like they would rather be farm heavy over a team player because they can get 6 stacks in a full jungle clear compared to one stack to helping a lane that might be struggling. They will even be suicidal and try to solo dragons which might end up putting the winning team ahead over joining a team fight for their team that could have push winning into their favor. With it being as that why would the jungler want to help their team? It is very clear that it is a item that doesn't give any team play aspect from that point of view either.

All in all I don't see why we have this as a jungle enchantment in season 6 and feel it really should have a change or just be scraped given the factor that it doesn't fit into what the current game wants to play as.

  1. your questions are really biased.

  2. im fine with the way devourer is currently. i main devourer junglers and i've learned how to play around a weak early game. the incredibly strong mid game makes up for it

You are aware that Devourer stacks with Takedowns, so assists are just as valuable as kills. It sounds to me that you have an issue with Junglers not understanding the item. A devourer jungler should behave no differently than another jungler. If your lane is shoved and it looks like they can get a kill, they will help. It also puts them at the River for a 2 stack scuttler and possibly a dragon or herald if the gank goes well. The only real delay in a devourer jungler is buying the enchantment. That 1400 gold after the first back feels like forever and it is pretty hard to justify ganking a lane if you won't even get assist gold out of it.

Here i made a symilar reasoning, i think the best way would be taking away the stack system, and make it work with level scaling and make "sated" passive cooldown based or unlocked after a certain minute.

This devourer makes the user weaker against counter jungling and killing a jg monsters is more efficient for getting stacks.
