To characters that resulted problematic with them or had a not intended use?
Not talking about making some stats "melee/ranged only" but strictly making X character unable to buy that item. While surely a harsh solution and a great and arbitrary limitation to certain builds it might solve a lot of balance problems derived by the misuse of items like Rilay, lethalty items and such.
Quepha2 votesI hate the idea that someone would look at an item and go "oh many that would work so well with ____'s kit, why don't they build it?" "Because Riot says that's against the rules" The entire point of the item system is that you can choose to build items because you think they would work well, restricting them because they work too well ruins it.
Cassiopeia can't build boots but that's different.

Like new players for example wouldn't know that an item they build on brand isn't available for syndra despite both being mages. They shouldn't remove access to specific items from specific champions, it also ruins the idea of experimentation, like if the item became weak would it be ok on champ x then? If cassiopeia was at a 30% winrate and -0.5% pick rate would rylais still have to be disabled on her? (just exampling, nothing against cass)
Its kinda why cass's no boots gimmick feels really out of context since boots are something all players should prioritize getting, it just works for cass because its part of her passive rather than the item itself.
