PSA: Yasuo is not a god-tier champion.

We all know that because of all the Yasuo Hate Bandwagon, at this point Yasuo is literally a meme replacing our dear Teemo. People hate this Champion just because everybody hates it.

So now it have reached to the point where people are always toxic to anybody playing Yasuo (contrary to the belief that Yasuo players are toxic). Now everybody believes that if you are playing Yasuo, you must shit on entire enemy team. What people don't realize is Yasuo isn't even very strong champion to begin with.

There are tons of champion which can utterly destroy Yasuo in lane without even trying. "But you have a wall, you don't even take damage". Sure, if the Windwall would stop the damage coming from enemy Renekton/Fiora etc.

Yasuo is not meant to win laning phase against all champions. He is meant to be a carry mid-lategame, not 1v5 earlygame. In fact, he will lose 1v1 in most of the matchups earlygame.

You are not garbage if enemy Renekton get first blood because of a gank. You do not have Autism if enemy Darius win lane against you. You don't have to uninstall if enemy Pantheon is easily dive your turret and kill you taking 0 damage from turret shots.

These days Everybody reacts as if when Yasuo on your team dies even once, he just threw the whole game and should commit suicide in real life by drinking bleach because he is not 13/0 @10 minutes in.

For real, I've seen in my games. When a champion who is not Yasuo goes 0/4/0, "Well, he just got camped hard and having a bad game". When Yasuo is 1/3/1, "PLIZ REPROT THIS SHIT YASO x9 !! INTERNATIONAL FEADING!!!".

It need to stop. Really.

I can already see 444 downvotes or "meme-reply" on how they don't flame Yasuo for dying because they ban him every game.

Actually, no, you are completely wrong. We hate Yasuo because he is fucking annoying to play against. Seeing him "show off" while dashing through minions is the most tilting thing ever.

I don't hate Yasuo players, I don't flame them, and I don't think Yasuo is overpowered.

I just don't want him in my game. I don't like the champion and will ban him if needed. There's no need for being an ass about it, but none of the stats or truths will change the fact that I just don't like playing in games with the champion.

I deeply appreciate this post. To be honest, I've been moving away from Yasuo lately (especially with Kayn out now). I think the stigma is finally getting to me despite my efforts to ignore it. It's getting hard to ignore when even Rioters are joking about Yasuo in every other post, even official posts like patch notes and whatnot.

The other day I just played a normal positive attitude ranked game and was told by my teammates that I'd proved them wrong after they initially doubted my Yasuo pick (the doubt stemming from nothing other than the fact that someone on their team picking is Yasuo). That I had to prove them wrong at all says a lot on its own.

I miss season 5 when I could just play Yasuo mostly in peace.

That is completely 100% false, and you know it. It's just something to make it sound like Yasuo is an A-Okay champion but people hate him because they're idiots.

So yeah Yasuo isn't a great top laner. He's also primarly played mid-lane. The people who hate on Yasuo are the midlaners who have to deal with the fact that he has the most mobility in lane, a free shield, the ability to "assassinate" with only 1 or 2 items while still having DPS.

Despite this there are legitimate reasons to dislike Yasuo. For example his ultimate allows him to turret dive you without being targeted by the turret. Also he's able to take actions out of his ultimate before you are (This one is especially frustrating from me who used to play Malzahar when the target of your ult got to take action out of your ult before the damage was finished). Another good example is that they made Yasuo's ult automatically place him as far away from damage as he can be coming out of it. There's the fact that he's from the era of each champ having two passives. There's also the fact that the windwall has a large enough hitbox that he can actually sit inside of it without taking damage, cause making the hitbox of the windwall a thin line to hide behind and actually have to position for is unreasonable.

So no Yasuo is not god-tier, but he is actively annoying. Teemo never got hate for being good; he got hate for being annoying. Good champs don't get hate, annoying champs do. When Ahri was ultra-top-tier, I'm thinking of season 2, no one hated on her because her kit isn't actively annoying.

Not everyone follows the herd. I don't like Yasuo, but I actually have reasoning for it, namely:

  1. He is absolutely not fun to lane against. Even if you're playing someone who counters him, he is frustrating because of his combination of mobility in lane and having to work around his shield.
  2. His ability to nuke most people with just 3 items is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, most mages and assassins can do this too, but they generally need to land more than one spell that can be dodged.
  3. Most people I encounter in-game who can play him are either not particularly good (for example, playing super aggressive early against people who shit on Yasuo), or are not particularly friendly players (blaming everyone else for their problems, or picking off every single kill they can without regard for the rest of the team).

FWIW, on the note of item 3 in particular, I'm also not particularly fond of Riven, Katarina, Vayne, and Shaco.

Pretty much explains why I don't play Yasuo since months now. Having fun playing your favorite champ at the cost of being flamed whole game without any reason is just not worth it. I would rather play Proxy Singed being 0/20 and my teammates won't even care about my KDA because I am not Yasuo. :'D

I'm only commenting to say that I disagree with your statement on Yasuo being a meme replacing Teemo. Teemo was a meme because he is so tiny and cute but caused hell for so many champions, he was annoying BUT he wasn't that unhealthy of a champion. Although so many people hated Teemo they joked about it. Yasuo on the other hand is completely different. Unhealthy mechanics and all that, a real issue. Yasuo being the most hated champion isn't a meme.

As for people treating Yasuos in-game like they're some sort of insta-win, I say this: you cannot fix stupid.

Teemo was never OP. Exactly the same thing, except we see Yasuo more. And hate him more.
