Unsportsmanlike Conduct & Chat

I created this discussion to hopefully draw some attention from Riot about the state of communication in League of Legends. I personally have been told to "drink bleach" "hang (my)self" and "go die" in one single session of gameplay in this MOBA than in the entirety of the rest of my life combined. Although I understand that some people enjoy chatting and it is indeed probably a lot of why they choose to play online games, not everyone feels that way. I am creating this thread in the hopes of convincing Riot Games to institute a check box under the options menu that disables chat entirely for the summoners that choose to opt out of it. In nearly 3 years of League play I have yet to encounter a situation that could not be adequately and even more efficiently conveyed via pings. I am convinced that many nice people who play League are told outrageous things like to "blow your f***ing brains out" over simple missteps in gameplay and go on to become "toxic" players themselves because they are incapable of brushing off the effect that hearing something like that has on them. Yes I realize this is going to be considered a "sissy" problem or something but humans are humans and I believe they deserve to be treated as such. Chat as I see it now serves 0 gameplay functionality and is 90% of the medium for toxicity (basically it's all of it aside from intent feeding). I have realized recently that the state of League communication has turned me into a toxic player when I am not a toxic person simply because 100 bouts of "kill yourself" puts a taste in your mouth that can't quite be shaken. If someone is rude to me it is in my nature to defend myself but does nothing but exacerbate the situation. /ignore all is an option but it feels as though I am consciously deciding that everyone around me is not worth my time which is not a positive feeling to start off EVERY game with. I work in customer service and the majority of my pay is tips that I receive for dealing with 1/10th of what I put up with on League every hour. I enjoy the game but don't think I can continue playing in any sort of a positive manner without changes to chat functionality.
And to anyone out there who has been toxic to me in my past games, I accept the reality that you are probably nice people who lost track of yourselves. Hopefully riot gives us all the option to self mute in the future so that we can better monitor the negative impact that we have on others.
