Chat Restricted Again? Srs. GTFIH!

Okay so story time, listen up boys and girls. This story takes place about 3 months ago when young Apesery was an angry League of Legends player, content with the smack talking of others. League of Legends didn't want Apesery doing this anymore so they gave Apesery a big long chat restriction. Upon seeing this 60 game chat ban Apesery wasnt happy and quit the game for several months. Upon returning he realised very quickly that you were at a disadvantage in ranked play while chat restricted. Not being able to talk made it almost impossible to play duo lanes. So Apesery eventually went to normal games to grind back his rights to speak. Vowing to correct his ways and never to speak ill about another creature again. Eventually the time came when Apesery was 1 game from being chat banned. When Apesery finally finished his last chat restricted game he jumped with joy. This was all he had wanted in 3 months. He went to sleep feeling like a champion. The reward of his diligence and tenacity finally at his feet. In the morning Apesery went to his computer ready and eager to play the ranked matches so long withheld. But when Apesery sat down to play his first ranked match of the day, he was shattered. A popup that he had come to know and hate was back on his screen. That's right he had been chat banned. This time his chat ban was for 74 games. Lost on how such a thing could happen when he was sure he had been very much a civil player in all of his last 60 games, he was torn up. How could they do this to him? Right as his work had finally payed off, it had been snatched away. Feeling heart broken Apesery turned to the support section where he was told proof was held against him that said he had been a toxic player. He was shocked. He knew the truth but he didn't know how to solve his problem. Was he going to have to play another 74 normal games to recover? With the season ending and the rewards of his hard work in the balance he had to get this solved somehow.. but who would be his knight in shining armor? Who would lead him back into the ranked games he loved so much? He knew only 1 way to find an audience... only the forums could yield such a chance.

Cliffs:

Being a toxic player. Gets chat banned. Changes his ways. Grinds normal games to get unbanned. Gets unbanned. Day later gets banned again even though he was being nice.

Okay so how do these chat bans get handed out? Is it like a prison sentence? Does everything you do get held until your previous punished has been completed? This seems crazy and with season rewards on the line i feel like riot needs to look into this ASAP or they might have alot of unhappy costumers come season reward day.

I threw in a poll because i feel like a large part of the community is affected by this decision to remove rewards if you're chat banned. What if someone who has been a model player all season gets a high number of reports right before the season ends and has there rewards withheld from a 5 game chat ban they could have easily played out?

You can still get rewards if you're chat restricted

It sounds like you can serve consecutive sentences. It would seem to indicate you were a pretty unfriendly person before. I'm glad that you have chosen to change how you interact, that is the important lesson. Perhaps in the case of consecutive sentencing, if the charges are the same, then there should be a grace period of say 20 games where the ban is lifted, but if you slip up, then the next sentence is applied. If you seem to have reformed, then the next sentence is cancelled.

Perhaps if you have 3 consecutive sentences, the grace period will be applied for each sentence, meaning you have to make sure not to slip up for 40 games (2 trial (parole) periods) each successful grace period cancelling out one of the sentences.

food for thought.

i agree with this completely... if some dude who had a bad day doesnt just report you for verbal when you didnt interact with him at all...

When Tribunal is functional, it is supposed to be able to identify bogus reports. Reviewers look at the chat logs and determine if there is merit to the claim. They do have a history of reports against the subject of the claim, though. So they may determine that you are guilty based on a long history of the same kind of report. This may or may not be fair. It would seem especially unfair to someone who actually has reformed. I think the system is new, needs time to adjust and I think the number of banned people who deserve it currently still outnumber the banned people who don't which indicates to me that the system is starting to work and they just need to slowly dial it in.

Be aware that I am supportive of your choice to reform your interactions and I know you can survive the next punishment, deserved or not. We are the first step in improving our community. Only we can choose to be better players, better people, to one another. Stay true to the summoner's code my friend, the bans will end or be lifted. I refuse to believe a changed person can stay banned forever. I believe in you.
