Blitzcrank Nerf pretty much killed him.

Riot I've honestly thought most of the buffs and nerfs you have been doing have been great for the game health and balance. But these nerfs to blitzcrank on a balanced champion just weren't good in any manner. The slowing self mechanic doesn't feel good like it does with Vi or Xerath where it makes sense for them and it doesn't just make you hate to use that spell. I can't stand to hit my W now. Decaying move speed buffs are just terrible in design since they wear off so fast. Literally you will make the same distance covered without ever using the W. 90% means nothing if it lasts .25 seconds or something like that. He pretty much can't catch anyone without his hook. You have always talked about helping binary ways of play for champions (I'm not sure what the word is I'm looking for, for that.) Prior to these nerfs blitzcrank had 2 ways of starting a fight. Hook as we all know that he does best, and if need be run in and uppercut someone. Now you physically can't do that. Please for the sake of every Blitz player revert these changes. if you really feel the need to nerf him just take off some duration from his old W. I believe it was 8 Seconds turning it to 5 would make it not easy for him to endlessly chase giving more counter play. This new W feels terrible and just honestly breaks my heart for one of my favorite champions and my go to support.

How doesn't it make sense for blitzcrank? the skill is called "Overdrive".

Pre-nerf Blitzcrank was not exactly balanced... A 20% pick rate and 55% win rate suggest that something is up.

Playing against him wasn't fun either...

I can accept that this nerf doesn't feel good to the Blitz players though - where would you have nerfed him?

His win rate is normal and in a good spot his pick rate is normal as well there are only a few supports in game even more so that are used. So that explains why him and majority of other supports have a high pick rate. Thresh, Leona, Morgana, all have a higher pick rate then him showing that supports aren't very broad in champ diversity. Its not fun playing against Kennen, Teemo, Leona, Katarina, Leblanc, Sion, Sejuani, should I continue? Blitz has very clear counterplay his Q does have a pretty good cooldown early and late game if he hooks the wrong target he could screw his team. As for the nerfs I did say what they should do in another reply

His win rate is normal

Anything above 53% is not normal.

Ript3r2 votes

No its not. Otherwise 47% loss rate would be. And its not.

Higher pick rates deflate win rates. If Blitz has such a high pick and win rate, there's definitely a lack of balance there.

For the record, I don't play Blitzcrank.

Although I think the champ was balanced, he definitely does prey on the play pattern of solo queue and is good at punishing mistakes. So, I would have been OK with a small nerf, but I think Rito underestimated the impact of the change (4.5% drop in win rate at pretty much all levels of ranked). In addition, I have to imagine that the new ability just feels bad. Getting no net speedup means you have to be perfect in your timing of the ability or you literally just wasted mana. Personally, I think they should just get rid of the self-slow and go from there.

Sorry about all the downvotes, I think you're pretty much absolutely right. I +1'd, for what it's worth.

I would be okay with the slowing IF the speed boost wasn't decaying.

I assume the move speed decaying over time is to make it less easy mode to escape and chase people, but if he self-slows afterwards there's no point in a speed decay.

Yeah like I could see that its not a bad thing if he stayed at 90% for 5 seconds then slowed. But literally he's stutterdriving. he gets quarter of a second of massive movespeed then about the same movespeed he had prior for 4 seconds. Which honestly I feel he gets slower before he actually gets slowed if that makes sense

I think the speed nerf was un-needed. The ult was the thing that needed nerfing. Maybe a longer silence and lower damage would be a proper nerf for Blitz. But other than his ult, everything was FINE

Ript3r2 votes

Yeah his ult is pretty low cooldown which I could understand a maximum increase of 15 second increase unless they fix people being able to blink/flash out of his hook E combos.

Plot twist: it was a buff.

Its supposed to be more of a power switch. Tho it just ended up being purely a nerf. Sure he has more attack speed I believe, but the problem is he's not really meant to auto that often and since he's pretty much only viable in support and jungle he can't really get away with using it.

Its supposed to be more of a power switch.

It wasn't intended to be a power shift. It was intended as a nerf. The goal was to make it only useful for immediate hook positioning. They wanted to lower his map mobility, as well as remove his ability to ignore the hook and just run at and punch people when he was ahead. They also wanted to open up opportunities for his opponents to punish missed grabs by adding the slow. None of this was meant to benefit him. Pure nerfing was the intention.

He didn't get any more attack speed. The attack speed numbers remained the same while the duration of the skill was lowered.
