The Ornn Rework - How does his passive choose which item to upgrade on allies if they have multiple

Hey all,

Sort of a fan of the Ornn rework. I've enjoyed playing him jungle since release and like the feel of roaming to people's lanes and buffing their items (even if it generally happens late game when you're really already grouping as a team). Just had a question about how his new passive works. Since Ornn's new passive upgrades one of his allies' applicable items when he gets in range, how does it choose which item to upgrade if the ally has multiple options in their inventory? For example, if a mage has a Deathcap, Zhonyas, and Ludens, which item will be upgraded? Same way with Ornn... if he has a Sunfires, Frozen Fist, and Abyssal Mask when he turns lvl 13, which 2 items get upgraded? Just trying to figure out how Riot may have coded it.

Cheers, Ornn

UPDATE:

Got an answer while looking at a Dev board:

At the moment it works on an internal priority system. I've been thinking about some other options, like maybe whatever is in the earliest slot? Curious what you guys might think would work here.

The "internal priority system" isn't clarified from what I can see but it looks like they are considering some clearer ways for people to choose what item upgrades.

UPDATE #2:

Great subreddit here, TLDR: Ornn upgrades based on slot order. Therefore, teammates should drop the item they want to upgrade in a higher slot than any other potentially upgradeable items.

Items all have an item ID (which you can see when you click on an item here on the boards, since the ID is displayed in text before you post; item 3068 has an ID of 3068 and item 3001 has an ID of 3001)

If I had to guess, the item with the lowest-numbered ID would get upgraded, so Abyssal would get upgraded over Sunfire since 3001 comes before 3068.

That's just my guess though, I'm not sure if that's how it works.

Sorry for the necro

I'm actually confused how to upgrade an ally's item at all. I have no idea where to do it. The shop tends to only show MY items?

I feel like it’s random. Is it the first one built or is it the order they are in on the inventory? I’m liking him. It was a bit of a shocker having to step back a little in laning phase but overall it was fun.

The first item that they built completely. Inventory order does NOT matter.

Yeah I am not sure how this works I just started playing ornn and waited to upgrade my mid one game until after he had ludens, cap, and glass (in which he built in that order) and the glass was the item that upgraded.

I am curious how it would work if we both sat on the fountain and they sold two items let you start the upgrade if the undo option would stay or grey out.

Okay, that's...interesting. You just...right click on your ally then? Lol.
