Why Was Karma Reworked?

Old Karma:

Passive - More AP based on missing HP.

Q - Deal damage in a cone Q Mantra - Also heals Karma and allies

W - Speeds Karma and a tethered ally or slows an enemy Mantra W - Movement speed boost/slow increased

E - Shields someone Mantra E - Shield detonates and damages

And R had a charge system. __

I can see her old passive and Q being problematic but I really like the rest of her kit and its dualistic theme :( so why did they rework her instead of adjusting her?

She wasnt Very popular to play back then..and IF you came across a Karma main lookout.. cause she usually ripped u a new one.. so Riot had to dumb her down and make her easier to use...

The R charge system meant that the charged abilities felt barely more powerful than regular abilities (she can empower 2/3 abilities in a full combo, if they actually felt much stronger then that's like firing off two ults in under 1 second).

Her W was a complete mess, if you ever tried it out you'd understand. The mechanics of drawing a line between two targets and trying to get more targets onto the tether just doesn't happen. A lot of players simply never put a point in the ability so they could max out her Q and E simultaneously to maximize burst potential.

The shield bomb required absolutely zero thought to it because it simply does what you want it to to all the targets available whether they're friendlies or enemies. There's no wrong time to use it so to be balanced it had to just feel kind of shitty all the time.

Everything felt muddied. The abilities read like they're about duality, but it was actually the opposite where they were more like generically beneficial auras.

W: Movement speed was awkward since most of the time tethering to an ally would cause them to separate and loose the speed, not to mention it only damaged enemies who walked into the actual tether and not the enemy karma actually put the tether on.

E: a shield alone is stale af, almost every shield in the game gives something additional to add to the characters thematic. Karma's old shield was literally just a shield, no move speed buff, no nothin.
