Confusion on ranked solo/duo

So i just won a game of solo/duo and it just added points to the rank I had during season 6. Does that mean during s7 I will have the same rank and not have to go through placements??

Placements will still be a thing, since there will still be a reset when season 7 starts.

Flex queue you didn't have a rank to start with, so you needed to do placements there, but you'll need a fresh batch of placements for that when S7 starts as well.

Probably not. The rank you achieve in flex queue during preseason will have a small impact on where you are first placed when s7 starts, but it'll still be reset and you'll most likely place lower than wherever you climb to during preseason.

No. The ranking during this period (the Pre-Season) is just for those who want to increase their MMR so that they get placed higher when they do their placements at the start of the season.

Here's how the system typically works:

Ranks don't reset in the preseason, they reset when the new season starts. In the meantime, you can continue to grind your rank in the preseason in order to try to get placed higher in the next season, since it takes your last season's rank into account when it places you.

This year, Flex Queue had you go through placements for the preseason since it's a separate queue that didn't exist before this year, and as such, had nothing to go off of to place you this year. In addition, your Flex Queue rank will affect your solo queue rank after placements if your Flex Queue rank was higher than your ending Dynamic Queue rank last season.
