Why doesn't Riot lower MMR for people who take this thing called "breaks"?

I haven't played in months, why am I being grouped with diamonds +? I can't play at this level.. does Riot assume that no one takes a break at this game? Or do they assume everybody plays the same way even after taking long breaks? Why am I forced to play at a level that completely owns me. I let my teamdown, I let myself down... isn't this a team game? Shouldn't Riot realize this is a team game? they always talk about it... why set people up with fail ass noobs like me who can't play at this level anymore? that's the most illogical thing... All I do is contribute nothing but deaths... if someone cares about their play, I am sure many people do.. when you play shitty it feels shitty, you let everybody down. The thing that most of you don't realize or will think about until I say this... you can't argue it's "just 1 game" it may take 50+ games of constant losses just to drop MMR to a point where I could adjust to. Realizing this I have to force myself to play games, knowing I will play shitty and contribute nothing to my team... quit the game.. or make a new account. Even quitting or making a new account sounds better than being a crappy teammate, and none of those options sound fun either. There are usually reasons for everything and anything in life, but I can't find a reason for this... Put a used-to-be diamond player at a diamond bracket after taking a break expecting him to play at that level again, in a game that's constantly evolving and people are improving? Oh yeah the guy taking a break should magically improve, or fuck off noob Ebomavirus, cuz why should we give a fuck about you right?

I'm no where near Diamond, but this is why i have trouble playing normals. I really only play ARAMs so whenever i go into a Normal i'm still playing against people as if i played normals all the time. I also play other games so when i do a lot of Smite or some other game then come back its rough, but i can't expect Riot to know that. It is just that i know when ever i go back i'm going to either have to play my old mains or get some lucky match making my first few games in.

I'd be fine with a decaying MMR (based on time away), but the issue is that some people would level accounts then just leave it, rotate to another get that MMR up then go back to alower one and so on. So they actually play at a higher MMR but their accounts will constantly be at lower MMRs allowing them to stomp. Yes this would require more work than it is worth, but so does even having a single smurf account, and we all know how many people have those.

They do, it just isn't like MASSIVE leaps downward.

what do you mean? MMR? if you're talking about MMR yeah, that's why I said it would take like 50 games, 50 games doesn't seem too bad for a normal player not in my situation.. but lets say 60-70% of those games maybe with diamonds... or platinums... I may not even be able to keep up with platinum 5s... for 60-70% of those games I may feed, be useless... then every one in awhile get lucky and carry... but that's borderline torture, just until I can re-adjust to this game... It's a video game and I feel like I'm doing a job all because I don't want to be a shitty teammate and Riot thinks I belong here after my long break

Actually, in your last game, the highest ranked person was in plat, not Diamond, that being said, the system is a bit jank and has a split between normal MMR and ranked, which is sometimes a good and other times, bad, but mostly bad.

thanks, I didn't know he was only plat, maybe I can only play at low gold or silver now. I don't know the solution to my problem, maybe I just have to not care about being useless, tough it out until my MMR drops? I just can't believe a problem like this in a game with 70m+ monthly users other people must have my problem too, and it doesn't seem to be addressed by Riot

Actually, unless you lose, your MMR is going to go up, I haven't seen a site that measures normal MMR, but yeah, gonna have to deal with it, just play bots.

It would be abusable. Make (or buy) a bunch of accounts, rotate between them so you're always playing people way below your true MMR.

People don't get THAT rusty in a few months, usually. If you were gone for more than a year your account would have gone through an MMR reset, at least in Ranked.

Yeah, I took a few months off but before that I took many many months off. Anyways, thanks for your input but It would kill the fun if I bought accounts, or leveled up a bunch of new ones just to stay around my true MMR. I just wish taking a break wasn't so devastating on my performance.

What i heard was "i got elo boosted/bought my account and now i realize that was actually really dumb. it sucks to play now, rito, this is your fault!"

what a poor way of perceiving it. Way to assume. Do I talk like I'm some kid who needs to show off to his buddies his ranking ELO? Maybe you have poor character judgement. I only play with 2 friends(sometimes) and they don't care about miniscule bullcrap like ranking elo, they aren't going to give me respect for it. Maybe that's what you rely on eh? FYI I only have 2 ranked games... so if I got ELO Boosted/bought accounts.. man this person has some really poor service PHEW 2 games 1 win 1 loss, WORST ELO BOOSTER NA. Do you want to assume that I paid 500,000 dollars for that too? we can go that route of assumptions lmao
