Community Opinion on Towers

I recently came back to the game to play casually without too much care for the competitive scene or the meta as a whole. I quit back when they changed dragon to be a random buff and stayed away when the jungle plants came around. But coming in now it feels like towers have become way too weak in general. I am guessing it is a combination of Earth Dragon and Rift Herald, but it seems a bit off for towers to be so weak.

Ive seen a few threads from earlier in the year complaining about the towers being weak, but what is the communities opinion on them?

They're decorations for the map. The one down at bot is a tad bit more fragile though.

See the balancing of individual towers to other in the same row is weird to me too. I understand it is a response to how the meta puts adc and support down bot, but their presence there instead of top is just a result of long standing player preference. It seems like a silly design decision.
