Community Opinion on Towers

I recently came back to the game to play casually without too much care for the competitive scene or the meta as a whole. I quit back when they changed dragon to be a random buff and stayed away when the jungle plants came around. But coming in now it feels like towers have become way too weak in general. I am guessing it is a combination of Earth Dragon and Rift Herald, but it seems a bit off for towers to be so weak.

Ive seen a few threads from earlier in the year complaining about the towers being weak, but what is the communities opinion on them?
