He doesn't suck, he just gets countered by popular jungles and struggles against hyper mobile teams since his entire engage is walking at people

Partially because riot indirectly nerfed him when they removed the interaction between and which gave him his late game dueling power. (Much of my damage as skarner was coming from this item combo, skarner has pretty high ad per lvl)

His abilities mostly scale with** total** AD so he gained nothing in return from being changed from base ad bonus to total ad bonus.

Riot has still not compensated / buffed him because they are probably afraid of his ult being used in competitive play or something, since damage is so high and he could flash ult someone and pull them into insta kill range for his team with the only counterplay being the victim having or on their team.

Also games are shorter, skarner cant scale nearly as often...

Another big thing, catchup xp, enemy jungler can just continually gank while skarner can only pull off an effective gank with his R, meanwhile enemy jungler can camp lanes non stop without falling behind even if they fail to get a kill.

Doesn't suck your runes are wrong and build sorta. You are wrong if you are not taking transcedance and nimbus cloak. And are wrong if you are not making e first .
