ARAM needs bans

So here is my thinking, based on the size of your roster(how many champions you have unlocked but I was hoping in the 5-10 range) you get a proportional amount of bans for ARAM, so basically you select a character that you don't want to show up for you in ARAM, basically these are personal bans so each player chooses their own bans. You could still trade for this champ you banned if someone else rolls them or tossed in to the discard pool with the same stipulations as normal, just I find I find I tend to get the same characters over and over again, would be nice to be able to ban out certain characters that are bad in ARAM or that you don't feel like playing.

only way ARAM can have bans is if the full roster is available for rolling. otherwise there is a potential chance to ban a champion that no one can even roll to begin with.

Guess I'll just never get a champion I know how to play then. Sounds fun. [slayer-jinx-unamused]

We need the reroll system to be fixed/updated etc to where if you own over half the champs say 80 champs when you use 2 rolls it doesnt give you the 207/250 credit where it should be giving at least one roll.

Way too specific and honestly pointless..

I think some people are misunderstanding, say I have jax, caitlyn, teemo and vI as my roster of available ARAM champions and another player has Renekton, Varus, Kayne, Yasuo, well I might go into my ban list(personal... just for me) and ban teemo and vi that simply means when I enter an ARAM game I'll either get Jax or Caitlyn as I've banned the other two(can still play them tho is someone else rolls them and I trade for it) the other player bans Kayne and Yasuo so he can only get Renekton or Varus when he enters the game this way you can eliminate some characters. I feel it would be nice to knock out characters you either don't wanna play or are just bad for ARAM. The number of bans you get available to you is based on the number of champions you have unlocked.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I don't want bans in ARAM for multiple reasons.

  • The players who dodge as soon as they see they have 0 chance at a champion who's been banned and make the rest of us sit through repeated champ selects (this happened when bans were tested in ARAM last year, and I didn't get into a game for 15 minutes due to players dodging after bans locked).
  • I like to play some champions that my friends despise. They will permaban those champions to avoid ever having them on the enemy team, but that also means I will never see them on my team while playing with my friends. I don't want to avoid playing with my friends just for the chance to play some champions.
  • I'd rather play against a champion I struggle against than ban it, because if I always avoid it, I'll never get better against it.
  • If you can't handle the possibility of playing as, with, or against any champion in the roster, maybe a random pick game mode isn't something you should be playing. There are a lot of champions I hate playing, but if I'm out of rerolls and nobody wants to trade, I'm still going to try to win.

When Riot tested bans in ARAM last year, their data indicated negative results. Lower champion diversity and longer periods between actual games are bad for the game mode. https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2019/04/dev-aram-changes-wrap-up/
