8 Out of 10 wins in Prov. and Placed in Bronze V?

I'm not one to actually know how the ranking system works and all, but I had thought that if you won over 7 games that your rank would at least be improved slightly.

I just finished with a sad loss, and had only lost 2 games, and now I'm in Bronze V? What...

if it makes you feel any better i was g4 and i went 5/10 in my promos, they placed me in silver 1. i mean wtf. thats garbage!

but seriously, everyone drops down after their promo matches on a new season. thats the point of a ladder reset and having a new season. why should challenger players get dropped down all the way to plat 1?

How is that garbage? There is only 2 divisions difference. You are one of those who dropped very little, almost insignificant.

thats because my MMR was actually around the plat 5 level. your old ranking held no baring on your placement matches.

and silver 1 promos are just awful, especially when you have to play in a room full of gold 3 +++ players to do it, just to get into gold 5.

Gold 5 back in season 3 4 win / 6 loses, Silver 1.

Keep in mind, that if you played rank last season, your overall MMR was probably dropped(as everyone's is during a soft reset, I don't know the maths) a little. Also, keep in mind that the rank you see at any given time is not indicative of your actual MMR. People can be silver 2, but have the MMR of Bronze 1.

It may make you happier if you check your LP gains and losses after a few games.

Also, everyone starts below their previous rank. Challengers start the season at plat 1, no matter if they go 10-0, or 0-10. Though, the more placements you win, the more LP you win each game and the less you lose.

If it makes you feel any better, I lost all 10 of my placement matches and got promoted to silver 4 from bronze 2.

You just have to realize that the ranking system is a joke. I have seen Bronze guys mop the floor with Diamond players. Your ranking is basically 50% skill and 50% luck.

Basically a coinflip amirite. I should be challenger then since i haven't reached challenger in the last 5 seasons so my odds are there.

Since you put it that way, it's probably more of a 60/40 split. Skill will let you rise, but luck determines how fast.
