How to play with unlocked camera

I feel like a part of why my map awareness is complete shit is because i play with locked camera on league. Do people actually play with unlocked camera? And if so, how? Isn't moving your mouse to the very edge of the screen just to move the camera a hindrance to your gameplay? Is there other ways to move the camera comfortably? I need someones thoughts on this, thanks.

I play unlocked all the time on every champions

How do you use it? -Well you just have to get use to

-Play 10-15 games with unlocked screen on throughout the week

-Lower mouse sensitivity

-Dont be tempted to lock your screen again.

-Play normals or bots to get use to it

Moving your mouse at the corner of the screen become natural and ez after a alot games

This is a team game, and while other games focus on what you're doing, you need to be able to see as much as you can at the same time. While the map helps with this, it doesn't give you the feel of proximity to what's going on nearby you, or, away from you. Let's say you're mid, you run down mid, and stand at your outer tower. The fog of war isn't changing based on where your mouse or camera is, but rather a range of view relative to your champion's location and which direction they're facing, at what object. It took me a week or so to get used to the unlocked camera, but almost IMMEDIATELY, I saw positive changes in my playstyle, habits, decision-making, positioning, etc. If you want the camera to center on you temporarily while it's unlocked, you can always press the Spacebar. That comes in handy during teamfights.

Most (proficient) players play unlock. So part of getting unlock working is getting the screen movement slider to the best spot for you. Everyone's preferred screen move is a personal feeling.

When you move your screen you do not keep your mouse against the edge, you bump the the side of the screen for it to shift in chunks and snap your mouse back to roughly center (tad more to the area you want to go to do something). You just repeatedly do these little bumps as you move around. If you bump to far you just press space bar to snap back to your champ.

Bumping the screen becomes secound nature after a 100 games or so, you become comfortable with it about 50ish games. If you got a decent amount of games in and still feels awkward, foreign or jumps to much; then your setting may not be tuned to what you really need. Mouse speed and screen shift speed are important to tune to what you want. To fast it is jarring to slow you have to keep your mouse at the edge of the screen.

using unlocked literally feels like once you get the hang of it you have unshackled yourself from a fate worse than death

The only disadvantage to playing with unlocked camera is that you have to get used to it if you've been on locked camera. Other than that, I can't think of a single disadvantage.

Locked camera actually gives me a headache. I started playing starcraft 1, 11 years ago and locked camera didnt exist there, or on Dota 2.. so im well accustomed to it. You just gotta bite the bullet for a few games and get use to it. It's probably going to be painful at first.

It's something we get used too, honestly. Fiddling with my mouse and scroll sensitivities was something I did for quite a while until I found my comfortable medium to getting the awareness I want with unlocked camera. It was very very hard at first, and I was loathe to leave locked camera. But I stuck with it, and got used to it, and now I can't imagine having locked camera. So, really... if you want to play with unlocked camera, you're going to have to spend a few dozen games getting used too it, and maybe a few dozen more tweaking settings to get it just right.

Sometimes I get a bug that makes me play with locked camera till I die.

I'm not suicidal but I come pretty close on those days.
