Fizz Ult & Merc Scimitar

I recently played a game where I was using Mercurial Scimitar. The enemy team had a Fizz. I was under the impression that if Fizz ulted me, and I QSS'ed before the shark went, the fish would drop. That was not the case. I could have sworn that is what happened in the past, and was wondering if this was intended, or a bug?

It is an interesting interaction. The fish drops onto the ground, but does not disappear. This means if you QSS it off, but do not move out of the way in time, you will still be hit.
