I can believe these rumors do to the level of skill i have seen from my teammates compared to last season. less map awareness, more deaths, lanes lost within 10 minutes. any opinions on this please don't bring your hate.
Father Ho6 votesI climb from bronze 5 to Diamond 5 alone without duo and I can tell you that this season is the only season I hate to play. Riot is trying to create a communist system where everyone is equal with the new runes system. I missed the time when I could change my runes based on who I'm vsing (MR runes or armor runes). Now I have to equip resolve path to do that. Plus, having 18 runes pages when I only need one now feel like I got robbed with all those times I spent collecting the optimal runes
RenownedWheat422 votesThe system is just objectively better. Now the difference between two players of equal skill isn't who has T2 vs T3 runes, because everyone has the same access to the same shit and it comes down to player skill.
Also, you got robbed of nothing. How long did you utilize the old rune system when you put money into it? You paid for a product and used it, and likely had a considerable advantage over PLENTY of others (many like myself only had T2 runes, and that was once the 1IP sale became a thing) for a decent amount of time.
You CAN STILL CHANGE YOUR RUNES dependent on who you're playing against. I don't see how you CAN'T do that now. The option wasn't taken from you - if anything, now there's quite a bit more variety than just flat stats. For example: Sion won't want comet against someone like Cho in lane because the poke now means nothing, so you can take other keystones like Grasp/Glacial Augment.

If you get behind in some games or matchups you are just cannon fodder and nothing can change that; especially with all the free damage that runes give now. How much CDR is in the game, etc. There is more to it than people just magically got worse or somehow all the good people quit. If anything, its not the good people quitting its the bads who aren't having fun. People who are good at things don't quit them. Thats why if you go play, say WoW Arena, you are going to be facing people with glad and arena master titles in the 1500-1600s.

TreeDayBan3 votesFormer pro players are just that. Former pro players. They got worse, people got better. You don't stay at the top of your game. Hell, if anything alot of "Former" pro players werent exactly amazing to begin with; the talent pool was just incredibly small. Couple that with a lack of drive now, and with more drive coming from younger players wanting to make it a career, etc.
They aren't infallible.

This is where personality and marketable niches play a bigger role than just being good at the game, which is only a single and inflated niche in and of itself. Former pros don't need to be good at all from a certain standpoint.

Those two things are separate. One or both may be but they are not related. For the sake of example, you may just be comparing a lower rated level of play to what you remember (no flame).

But if it wasn't how come no one mentioned that maybe the reason players are bad is because of ALL THE NEW PLAYERS. Maybe league is growing and we have an influx of new players. That is why they are bad. They are new.

Overwatch and PUBG took a lot of players, but a lot are also coming back as their popularity tanks towards a stable level and youtubers abandon them slowly.

Brotha1 votesI have eight accounts, self leveled, that I play on. My friends list on all of them are almost always full of offline players even though I accept almost any add. On this account, my oldest, I can count on one hand how many different players I'll see online in a week. I know that a lot of my friends quit in season 5 during the devourer days, and those that hung on through cinderhulk tank meta, tp/smite top quit after the abomination that was the ardent sensor meta. I highly doubt league is dying, I just believe the older player base is moving on and being taken over by a younger crowd.
