Is 30 Games enough to decide on a champ? #NewPlayer

Hey Yall,

Started playing League in April (so, yea, very green). I am currently lvl 29, https://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=soulhealer95

Two days ago I decided to main LeBlanc. My goal was to play atleast 50 games to start on her and learn her ins and outs. I'm on my second day on her and 27 games in. but my win rate with her is 37%. Some games, yea I do terrible but I try not to feed in most games and do pretty decent. except cs. I get early kills and really enjoy playing her despite of the outcome.

But losing game consistently makes me wonder if my win rate will improve to atleast 50% by 100 games? or in other words, is 30 games enough to predict how good you'll eventually be in-game with a champ? Pretty straightforward. Any tips appreciated!

Difficult champ especially rn. I consider myself a LeBlanc main with over 150 games and a 63% wr. I thinks it's really due to the fact that she's weak unless you can use her to her kits max pontential so it takes a lot experience to get a good wr on her. Your game knowledge is relatively little since you just started. I would recommend playing easier champs if you want to climb before moving on to more complex champs. That's what I did. I started playing last year at the beginning of April. I had no clue about anything in the game. I played simple champs like ww and yi first to learn the game and slowly moved towards champs more difficult than them. My mains went something like Yi -> Pantheon -> katarina ( used to be so braindead lol) -> Fizz. After playing a lot of Fizz I decided I had become comfortable with the game and my mechanics were a lot better than when I was climbing the levels to 30. I started playing Ekko -> Cassiopeia (she trained me to be a really good midlaner and better overall player because she demands quite a bit) -> Ryze -> LeBlanc -> Azir. These champions are pretty mechanically intensive and there was no way, at least from my perspective, I could have played them effieciently to the level of an average wr at least. I'm not harping on you but this was my journey and worked the best for me because I wanted to learn before moving up to the tough champions to play. I went from feeding bots to plat rn. I hope you find some knowledge in this post. If you would like to ask anything about her post away and I can help!

So, had you started with Cassiopeia, you'd likely not have performed as well in ranked because the skill cap would inhibit your game sense development in the first season of your gameplay. Is that what you wanted to convey?

If so, that is exactly what I had in mind when I started playing LB. But even though my game sense isn't there yet, I am in no rush to play competitive. Neither am I aiming for pros. I would love to be able to climb to plat or Diamond or higher, only so that I can play with my friends in that ELO but they are helpful, understanding and LB is very much fun to play, so I am okay with taking it slow. I focus on not feeding and improving my cs for now. you know, the basics. But I want to do it with LB, while learning her kit.

Couple things I noticed though were that my wr was significantly lower than similar amount of games on Vayne. Now (38 games in with 32% wr), I [think I] understand her better though.

What do you think of this approach? Any tips appreciated!

LB is one of the game's most difficult champions. It will take a ton of skill and patience to do half as well on her as you would any other champion.

You will have hundreds of horrible feeder games where you will ruin it by making a stupid mistake, diving in when you shouldn't have, pressing your ult too early, etc - just practice and play.

I would recommend picking an easier champion to start with.

In your first 100 or so ranked matches, you'll need to be learning a lot about the meta in general, as well as some laning nuances. It's more difficult to do this type of game knowledge learning while trying to play a skill intensive champion. This is especially true in league, as playing a hard champion perfectly isn't much more (if any) rewarding than playing an easy champion perfectly.

That being said, if you've got your heart set on LeBlanc, 30 games is not enough to have any indication. from http://champion.gg/champion/leblanc/Middle? it looks like the ideal range is 100-150 games played though you can probably get by with somewhere between 50-100.

30-50 is a good number, as hopefully by then you'll have plenty of experience not only playing and building the champ, but you'll have experience with a lot of their matchups.

When I first started (season 3), one of the most important things that helped me get the hang of the game was knowing every champ and what they do, which took a good amount of time to learn.

For improving CS, I'd recommend going into a game on your own (or against a single bot), and focus entirely on getting every minion for 10-15 minutes. Sounds like it wouldn't help that much, but practicing csing is surprisingly effective.

Even as low as 10 games would be enough to peak my interest for a champ back when I started Not I just go through "phases" where I obsess over a champ for a few months and then move on right now its lee sin

In mid season 5, I decided I was going to main Elise . Oh boy what a disaster that was.

Real talk, the champion you chose is both extremely hard to play and is going to feel rather undertuned unless you know how to play her to her fullest. Her skill floor and skill cap are both very, very high.

I'm sure an actual mid laner can suggest a better substitute, but have you considered Ahri ? She's similarly mobile with a mage-assassin type playstyle, and is much, much easier to learn and perform well with.

I know she is hard to play due to her skill cap and skill floor being very high, that is expected. I understand her potential is awesome and I want to become proficient enough to be able to meet her expectations of me just as much as she meets mine. It's supposed to be a mutual relationship ;)

I know It did feel a bit under tuned when I started but I feel like I'm getting bit better at her as I am developing more game sense and even though she is hard to carry with, the amount of fun it is to play her and her outplay potential has got me motivated to improve my play on her.

Thanks a lot for the tips though! :)
