Favorite Champion

This isn't a generic "who is your fav champ thread". This one will delve into the depths of your soul >:D

So tell me, summoners, who is your favorite champ to play ON the rift? What do you like about their kit? What draws you to play them?

What is your favorite champ in general. This includes gameplay, lore, the way Riot designed them to be, anything else etc. Tell me why.

What champ got you the most hyped for their release? Why?

What is the first champ you "mained". The one you bought during your level up phase and left a good mark on your heart.

As for me, my fav one to play in game would probably be Ahri . I just love how she can dance around, in, through, and out of the battle and do consistent damage.

My fav champ in general HAS to be Kindred . I love EVERYTHING about them- their lore, their gameplay, their design. I love the mystery that they are. I'm drawn to mysterious things easily, and they have a whole hell lot of it. I love that they are getting attention as well, it is much needed. I can't wait for the new rework.

I was most hyped for Taliyah , by far. I really love this champ. (I've only played league since Kindred's release, but at their release I was still a very low level.) I love how controlling she can be, and you can feel how determined she is in her VO.

The one that I first "mained" would be Morgana . AP Mid, destroyed my enemies kek.

Pre-removal AD Malzahar AP Varus ADC TwistedFate

Basically take a champion, exaggerate one aspect of their overall kit, and make something useful out of it. This is something the game has lost and is continuing to move away from which saddens me to no end. They'd rather make champions which are only functional if you're using 100% of the kit, in exactly the manner in which it was designed. Rather than allowing for the creative freedom of the players to create new, interesting, and dynamic play styles.

Riot shouldn't design kits, they should design utility belts.

Who is Taliyah5/23/2017, 12:17:15 PM5 votes

I love Taliyah She's been my main since her release now. I love her kit, her lore that she wanders the world to find out about her powers. She is cute, her VO is on point and she is a heavily team-based champion.

The first champion I "mained" were Lissandra and Aatrox back in season 3. I played them both constantly for 2 or 3 months untill I moved on to Riven and Janna. I know it's a weird combination. stopped playing Riven in season 5~ and only mained Janna afterwards untill Taliyah's release.

ThirteenJesters5/23/2017, 3:58:17 PM2 votes

Favourite champion usually changes often but the one I've played most consistently was Talon . I just like the simple assassin design, nothing special no magic crap just a pure assassin that looks and feels like he should. Plus Parkour.

Bard is my overall favorite. Balanced, fun, and takes a lot of skill to master. I like how he's designed as a cosmic being that is potentially one of the most dangerous people in the world but he just kind of chills out with his meep friends.

AurelionSol was my most hyped release. Badass star dragon just sounded like a cool idea. Never really did get into him when he released though, the playstyle wasn't quite as fun as I had hoped.

Kayle was my first main back in late season 2. I was a complete noob back then, I had absolutely no concept of how anything in the game worked or what anyone in the game did other than Kayle. I used to build 6 daggers on her for some reason that I could not explain to you. Never upgraded to actual items.

MissFortune I love everything about Miss fortune. She is my everything From her Lore, her kit, her gameplay, the design EVERYTHING! I just love when i can q onto a minion and half health ppl who are dumb enough to stay behind minions. I love moving fast when an enemy tries to grab me with no cc, I love when i can just make it rain slowing people down to catch them, and by god her ult. Her ult makes me grin from ear to ear when i melt the enemy adc (mainly this bish Caitlyn i hate her i hate her i have mastery 7 with her and will get her legendary skin but JESUS i hate her)

I want them to update her splash art to the quality of Karma very much so i can see her shine with her new skins. I love her lore how shes a badass but sexy as well. Her tits are as big as mine GOD i love Miss Fortune. My boyfriend call me obsessed but it's ok I'll admit I am obsessed with this champ.

http://samequizy.pl/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/filing_images_cd47020cc900.jpg And this skin is just amazing, although I really want a Legendary Skin

P.S i fucking HATE playing against her her ult and q HURTS, lets not talk about support MF jesus LOL! and when i'm supporting her -_- my teammates tilt me so hard

Last season was my 1st season so the champ I was excited to see was Taliyah

My 1st was Ezreal

(I'm typing this on my phone, so there's probably a lot of autocorrect and i can't use the champion icons)

Favorite champion to play: Sona bae <3 I picked up Sona as my main back in Season 3 when I first started playing and realized I was very bad at the game. It made me very frustrated that I couldn't play any champion well or affectively and I kept quitting League and crawling back when my friends wanted to play. Eventually my friend suggested I take Sona support, so I can still play but in a more passive role until I learned how to play the game (this game is NOT noob friendly, omg). I ended up just falling in love with Sona's simplicity and music design, and despite the #SaveSona2015-ers, I liked her rework and basically always play her even to this day. She's also basically freelo in Bronze, so I'm literally climbing my way through Bronze with her (~72% winrate on Sona).

Favorite champion in general: In terms of lore and design, I love Quinn. I would also say gameplay, but Riot ruined her gameplay with her unnecessary rework that I'm still bitter about (Sorry not sorry, i loved her adc/assassin gameplay and playing as Valor, and her new lit is basically just awkward looking trash). I just think Quinn's character is awesome, and I'm still waiting for lore updates to find out how she knows Talon and the extent of their relationship (if any).

Champion I was most hyped for on release: Jinx. When I first joined, either Lucian or Aatrox was the newest champion (I don't remember), but Jinx was the first champion that I remember was promoted as a new champion, and I was like "They release new champions? That's so cool!" She also had the awesome promo trailer "Get Jinxed!" which was amazing. Things I'm still waiting for: Riot to make a movie, clearly they know how to work CGI animation.

First champion I "mained": Annie. I even accidentally bought her with the free RP Riot gives you when you reach level 10. For like a solid three months I was like "Yeah, I'm an Annie main, i only play Annie." Then I picked up Sona and proceeded to never play Annie again lol.

Arhkadian5/23/2017, 12:55:51 PM2 votes

Ahri, for sure. I love how hypermobile she is, and most of all, I love the fact that she is so irresistible that she can make people stop what they're doing and follow her.

LeagueOfJhin5/24/2017, 12:58:36 AM2 votes

Renekton I love Renekton, you see im in bronze a place where people do not learn from their mistakes so even though they are below half health without flash and I have flash I love to just fuck shit up. You see im an asshole I want you to hate this lane, this is my lane come farm I dare you ;D

Mhihnj5/23/2017, 2:28:58 PM2 votes

Thresh cause he feels really satisfying to play with the way you just drag, push and pull everyone. Viktor Cause i feel like there is quite a bit of depth to his character.

most hyped would be Jhin because of all the videos

Digital Daddy5/23/2017, 9:58:35 AM2 votes

Um TEEMO CAUSE HE'S SATAN and Ezreal, cause he's fun to play and he looks like Dio from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Not really much to say. All i know is that Teemo and Ezreal have 4 abilities and a passive :|

Wheatloaf5/23/2017, 2:56:06 PM2 votes

Favorite to play in-game is Velkoz. Slowly breaking down my opponent's juking patterns to get that well-placed combo into a 100-0 facemelt is satisfying, and as an immobile champion with nothing but skillshots, his skillcap is rewarding, too.

Favorite champ in general is also Velkoz. Giant face laser? Infinite hunger for knowledge? Quotes that bounce back and forth between witty and outright disturbing? Yes please.

It's not even a contest. I cannot remember a day with more hype for League content than when Velkoz was leaked. My love of void champions had already been cemented thanks to Malzahar (bless his soul ;-;) at that point, and finding out one with even more powerful-feeling abilities was coming had me interested. When First Contact was released, the Hype Meter went back almost to full. I still go back and watch it sometimes, because it's just that good.

My first main, however, since Vel'Koz wasn't released until about a year after I started playing, was Thresh. My friends had all gotten into League, and were having trouble convincing me to join them, but showing me the new champion, his kit filled with visceral satisfaction, and that absolutely haunting login theme, convinced to at the very least try the game. Over 4 years later, here I am, and so Thresh and the support role in general maintain a spot in my heart.

Trundle toplane; not in a great spot right now....but when the current patch leans more toward his favour, his combination of stat-stripping, high sustain and utility make him quite formidable. His AA+Q reset one-two-punch actually gives the sensation of having weight behind it; like hitting someone with a garbage-bag full of soap bars. Good stuff.

Bard support; my opponents always expect item 3190item 3107 but then I whip out item 3100item 3115 and curb them with a powerful poke akin to smacking someone real good with a pillowcase full of phonebooks. Good stuff.

Orianna midlane; a well-rounded mage who brings a lot to the table. Her Ult feels like cracking five people simultaneously across the head with a backpack full of patio stones. Good stuff.

The 2nd Horseman5/24/2017, 1:36:32 AM1 votes

I mained Chogath until around level 25 because he was a big scary monster and I had his spooky scary skeleton skin, had fun with the burst combo but got tired of losing all my stacks (you can guess how happy those ult changes made me)

Then I started playing DrMundo for a but cause running adcs down was fun and then I decided to try a champion everyone said was hard,Gnar , man oh man is going mega gnar fun but my proudest moment was kiting a Hecarim to death when i had no hp.

But eventually I started hating how secluded top lane was and decided to try mid.

Then I became a carcinogenic,

I tried Fizz and noticed "Wow, they just keep on dying"

Then Ekko was released and I though "I like the way this guy thinks" And yeah It's basically been Ekko and Fizz games with the ever so often random.

I really liked Ekko's trailer and his perfectionist attitude. Funny thing is, I've never actually played any of their tank versions, I just enjoy the feel of bursting adcs and I thought the tank builds were simply boring.

  1. Aatrox THIS DEMON DUDE LOOKS SO BAD A**, spent like a month or two saving enough IP for him, then being sad because I didn't do well, but was determined to bring this beastmode looking champion to the spotlight. Got mediocre with him and Then realized he was complete trash tier after acquiring other champions.

  2. Warwick Cheap champion, stayed healthy in jungle, run fast. What more could I ask for as a nub?

  3. Twitch (still my favorite) Oh good GOD look at this damage, holy SHT. And his playstyle is fun af to boot!

  4. Nocturne (the one I play to do good with) Oh good GOD look at this damage, holy SHT. And his masculine jawline VOICELINES and ult to boot!

World Ender5/24/2017, 2:27:01 AM1 votes

Favorite champ gameplay wise: Aatrox because I can just right click and kill people (also I like the underdog factor, people don't expect an Aatrox to beat them in lane).

Favorite champ lore wise: Aatrox because he's so fkn edgy.

Most hyped for release: Kindred was the first champion release I was really conscious of, I just started getting serious about the game right before they came out and the teaser with the splitting rune/wood with narration gave me such chills.

First main: Shen was the first champ I mained, although I really do not like him anymore (thanks pros for causing him to be garbage in normal play)

DiscipleOfRhys5/24/2017, 3:28:10 AM1 votes

I absolutely love Yorick . In fact, this is probably the rework they've done the best on. I love hordes of little ghouls, hitting people with a very big shovel, and people forgetting that said shovel heals you! The only thing I don't like is that his W can be nearly useless, given how many movement abilities there are in this game now. I'm pretty sure Yasuo and Renekton get their procs on it too.

Favorite champ is Bard because he is the epitome of chill

Most hyped champion? Kled I haven't been playing long, and this guy reminds me of the stories my brother and I would make up when we were kids.

The first champ I bought was Fiddlesticks , but I think Sona was my first true "main." I was in a garage band at the time, and I liked that there was a music champ. BONUS! I got the pentakill skin soon after buying her.

Emerald Fang5/24/2017, 3:50:19 AM1 votes

Fiddlesticks hands-down my favorite. His design synergizes with itself so well and many people don't notice it. For example his passive procs off his ult channeling which means he gets a surge of MS immediately after casting. His kit is so fun to play and it looks funny as hell when you cast abilities. Also, I love when people forget about his scarecrow and start typing in chat "shit i'm lagging" and "Fiddle is completely still what the hell?". He's a very underrated champion because in my opinion he does need a LOT of AP to function well (and usually doesn't get to late-game) . However he's a very unique champion and doesn't really fit into a classic category of champions (he's a mage/sticky assassin/damage over time/CC/speedy champ, he has a bit of everything and it's awesome). Good job Riot; however I wish he would get a little bit of a buff especially to his drain (maybe its range) because enemies these days with their flashy dashes and such can escape it way too easily and if Fiddle stands on top of them while casting it will likely be cancelled or he will be at risk.

He's a pretty high-risk high-reward champ who can absolutely sway the game with his abilities (especially his ult which can break apart an entire team); and the best part is that his kit is simple, unlike the many other high-risk high-reward champions.

Garbage Teemo Ma5/24/2017, 6:09:30 AM1 votes

Main: Teemo ADC for smurfing: Caitlyn Favorite Mid: Xerath Most Hated: My bot lane

Limeheart XI5/24/2017, 6:26:52 AM1 votes

Though i think my champ hasn't been released yet, for now it's volibear. Playing him, it's like you are just some %%%it bear with a pealed banana for a head/neck, but then, (if you are going trinity into titanic toplane, like you should be) you ult, turning into volibear: the last storm bender, glowing eyes and everything and rek everyone within the vicinity. As far as lore goes he is moses of the ursine and a warrior/monk? Who even knows at this point... What really got me attached to volibear was the little debuff they added when playing vs zilean

Leetri5/24/2017, 6:56:04 AM1 votes

Viktor hits all the marks for me, literally my perfect champion. Gameplay wise he's perfect, lorewise he's perfect. I've mained him ever since 2011 when he came out, back when no one else played him. I still have fond memories of one game where I got ambushed 1v4 and got a quadrakill, leading to the enemy surrendering instantly. It would've been a pentakill if their Annie wasn't roaming top for whatever reason. That was back when people thought Viktor was useless, so I won most lanes easily because no one knew how his kit worked.

A lot of the community seems to love Viktor's lore, and I'm no exception. I love morally gray characters, they usually feel more human.

I don't know if I got super excited by any champion releases. Maybe Jhin? I quite distinctly remember release Fizz too for some reason.

And my first ever main was ADC Twisted Fate. I was dead sure he was supposed to be played as an ADC because 2 of his abilities involved auto attacks. It was pretty decent back in S2 at least. Played him pretty much exclusively until I hit lv 14, then I moved on to Sona and Master Yi.

CoTheSlow5/24/2017, 11:11:14 AM1 votes

To play on the rift I love Vi Vi which is weird cause I am super into mages. It's just such a nice change to not be the one sitting in the back and instead charging through teams and punching people into oblivion.

My fave champ ... It's difficult but I have to go Taliyah Taliyah with her just beating out Zyra Zyra. Everything about Taliyah's character is so wonderful and relatable to me. She's one of the few League characters that I can really get into. Which is why I think she trumps Zyra (yes I did just do that). I like them both for similar reasons but Zyra is all angry and murderous while Taliyah is just so fun ... she's a complete mess but she's fun.

Xayah + Taliyah both just captured me like no other champ did. I remember waiting the full two weeks in complete anticipation for them

Heimerdinger after his rework I just thought he was the most adorable thing ever ... so my friends gifted him to me and I spammed him so much. So Heimer just has a special place in my heart because of that. He's one of the few champions that just make me laugh. I will never get tilted as heimer cause he just makes me giggle.

IoLana5/24/2017, 4:19:32 PM1 votes

Vayne I love her w true damage and tumble mechanics.

Jerry SeinfeId5/23/2017, 7:02:05 PM1 votes

in general: Jinx i love everything about her except for mafia jinx (it's just bad). her lore is lighthearted with a past you get to imagine yourself, her base skin is so amazing i used it until slayer came out even tho i had the other skins. kinda sad her legendary was wasted on the starguardian line. switcheroo is such a fun mechanic and so is super mega death rocket. And her passive lives up to it's name, destroying their whole base running around like i'm sanic.

playstyle: Jinx but i already said that so it's gotta be Singed with Leona being a close runner up. I never thought i'd play singed until i got him in aram and realized he's so much fun. at first i always just fed my ass off and my friends hated me picking him so i pushed him aside. then one day i picked him up, figured out that i'm a lane singed instead of a proxy singed and i've been stomping top ever since. And surfer singed is probably the best thing in this game.

hype: i guess the WW or Poppy reworks tbh. i loved playing old poppy and her rework still felt like poppy to me, same for WW but to a lesser extent.

first one i mained was Jinx, she was the first champ i played and when i hit lvl 5 i had to start using rotation champs until i had 6.3k rp then i pretty much one tricked her until lvl 24. she feels the most natural to me, the kiting comes so much easier than other adc's (except twitch these days, i'm getting pretty good at him imo) and so does the switcheroo. [slayer-jinx-catface]

my guilty pleasure: Teemo LVL 7 emote spam, runaans AS/AP, all while rocking the omega squad skin.

Blue Moon Wolf5/23/2017, 9:29:33 PM1 votes

On the rift I think I've taken a liking to the new Galio quite a bit. He's a really good mage counter and I love his mix of engage, poke defense and CC. In general MonkeyKing. His kit has aged well over the years, his new lore puts him in a neat place as to how he fits into the world, he's got a fun personality and he has an ever present sense of a potential he has yet to obtain. I've always believed Wukong could be a really great character for League if they ever sat down to work on him alone.

I think I was most hyped for TahmKench. I believe he had the first in game interactive teaser that I knew about and that added a layer of mystery to him that got me exited. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjFsmPoEeG0

My first "main" was Garen, back when I thought "AP" made your abilities stronger, "AD" made your basic attacks stronger and "Jungle" was a term used by the second top laner who wanted to troll the entire team .-.

zaire905/23/2017, 9:51:06 PM1 votes

Used to love kat just because of how smooth she felt. All I had to do was kill someone and I could keep flying around as much as I want as fast as I wanted but then they reworked her and so far havent really found a replacement that I loved more so I just kinda play whatever

RottedApples5/23/2017, 11:05:55 PM1 votes

for me my favorite champion to play in game can vary from time to time as i find new interesting things or another champion just kind of strikes my fancy for a while. Currently it's probably a tie between my all time favorite Teemo and jungle Chogath with his update and gargoyle stoneplate. Teemo is someone I have always loved and i took a break from him for a while but since i want to go and do my ranked placements and maybe some more games to get up to G5 at least maybe I've picked him up again to practice him, and while doing so enjoy him. I've been a big fan of that on hit build since season 3 and the support for on hit styles has only gotten better with rage blade existing as an option later in the game. (i just wish i could get zephyr back) As for cho'gath the prospects of running around with 8k health and then pressing gargoyles stone plate to literally one shot someone with feast is just hilarious and he kinda reaches a state of being unkillable later on in the game because of this massive health pool.

My favorite overall champion is Teemo and while I already talked about why i like him in the previous question I'll add that i enjoy the fact that he is regarded as an asshole and I like the control i can get with mushrooms everywhere. The mushroom changes way back that gave them more range were amazing. I still wish the mushrooms themselves weren't hit so hard to give them that range but the fact i can lob them onto the minion line can help use them as poke, and a way to engage a trade/all in in lane and later by slowing enemies that get hit is really nice.

I'm not sure what my most hyped release was. I've played this game since just after zyra came out and i've seen so many new champions and reworks since then. I think some of my favorite released were Jhin Azir and maybe the Warwick rework. But I'm not sure which i was most hyped over.

The first champion i bought in the game was Ashe but the first champion i mained was Chogath I really liked his playstyle and character then so i picked him up. I was bad at the game because I was new so my builds were complete trash, but I had fun with the champion.

Tribbles Foxfolk5/23/2017, 11:17:02 PM1 votes

Favorite to play: Sona. Sona remains the queen of "beauty in simplicity". Her kit is refreshingly uncomplicated and everything works exactly as it says it does. There's also something weirdly satisfying about throwing out 20 spells per teamfight in a short 3s period. (Hyperbole, but only somewhat)

Favorite champ in general: Close call, but Nami. She's a very close second to Sona in "fun to play" value for me, but I enjoy everything about her. Her character hits the right buttons for me and genuinely makes me feel invested in her story. Her personality is endearingly on the "naive teenager" spectrum. Her abilities are all fun to use. There's just something playful that permeates Nami as a whole, and I love it.

Most hyped release: Gnar. Not even a contest. Gnar captured my interest from the moment he was teased. The primal design of him just drew my interest, and I was not disappointed. IMO, one of Riot's best champs to date.

First main: Sejuani. No, I'm not joking. I picked her up on a free weekend after one of my friends made fun of her. I thought she looked interesting (Back in S4 btw), so I played her out of reverse psychology. I wasn't disappointed. Sadly, me and Sej have taken a break from each other. It's not her, it's me, I've just shifted roles too much to play her consistently.

AwesomeGuyDj5/24/2017, 12:06:38 AM1 votes

Personality/lore. Kled, how can you not love this taco eating mushroom drinkin hallucinating noxian war rat? Kit, if you went by who i have highest played, mao, veigar and annie, but i dont play veig and annie anymore. but recently i've been playing kled.

I like kled because his playstyle is a very careless fun run in and fuck shit up kind of playstyle. Theres not a ton of thought put into it, you run in, q whoever it is and murder them.

EvanThomas5/24/2017, 12:16:24 AM1 votes

Favorite champ to play: Zilean, the "You can't touch me or my team for the rest of eternity" support. The only reason this edges out any other champ I play is because I can carry with this guy on support.

Favorite champ in general: Braum. The dude is always so encouraging in-game with all his quotes, and it's kind of charming in a light-hearted and funny way. His lore is amazing, as it's basically folklore, and he has the potential to make some nice in-game saves.

Champ I was most hyped for: I've only been around since the very end of season 5, so I haven't really seen too many champs on release. However, the one I was hyped for was Jhin. His huge range and hard-hitting autos made him so much fun. I still play him now, and have mastered the secret OP Jhin strat (spoiler: it's Movespeed Jhin: item 3142item 3046item 3006item 3031item 3094item 3035 with Bloodlust. Don't tell.) If we take reworks into account, Katarina mini-rework is a close second.

First champ I mained: Lux. She first helped me understand the ins and outs of mid lane as well as being a somewhat easy champ to learn. I don't play her anymore though. :(

InsaneKiller025/24/2017, 12:20:11 AM1 votes

Nasus Where you get bullied through the entire laning phase, but still manage to not be behind and outscale your opponent. When people pick Renekton thinking it counters you, and you shit on them. When you hear the salty enemy adc "wow, nasus is so broken" after you one shotted them. When you double kill on an enemy gank. As boring as he may seem, I love him.

now that I've ascended, I can have treats, anytime

The first champ I mained was RekSai. I played mostly Ziggs back then, and struggled really hard with mana. I played also jungle a little bit. When I saw a manaless jungler being announced, I was hyped. I was already maining her. I ended S5 with 59% w/r over 175 games, with 4 kda. I just felt she was designed for me. I invested so much time in her. Being broken on release really helped me to learn her, because I can get really impatient. Even if I sucked, I would still perform well and it encouraged me to play her even more. And then, well ... she got nerfed to oblivion, almost unplayable. And now, I'm awaiting her rework, as hyped as I was for her original release :D

Arcus Diabolus5/24/2017, 12:46:32 AM1 votes

Champ to play: Riven
As a fighting game junkie, Riven is the natural main I would take. Her combo oriented playstyle just feels the most natural to me and just feels nice to play her. She takes a lot of my experience in various fighting games and translates it well into league and her high skill cap is just wonderful because each game allows me to see noticeable improvements. Personally, I wish she were more like a fighting game, with stuff like blocking, a super meter, some kind of DP (think Shoryuken from street fighter), and a whole bunch of other fighting game mechanics.

General Favorite: Riven The points above add into this. It also helps that Riven shares the same voice actress as my fighting game main in Blazblue, Noel Vermilion. Her lore caught my attention and I actively jump on anything that might have anything to do with Riven just to see if her lore got expanded. Hopefully it will soon, as the biggest expainsion to her lore came in the form of special interactions from Yasuo. All of her skins so far are really fun to play with, Arcade Riven most especially with that beautiful "KO!" effect on death. I just love fighting games man, gimme a break.

Most hyped release: Azir SHURIMA! TRAVIS WILLINGHAM'S VOICE! ZONING! DPS! THIS BIRD GOT IT ALL!

First champion mained: Riven (?) Truth is, I don't think I mained any champ until I got Riven, but I'm not sure. All I know is Riven was the reason I convinced myself to give this game a shot in the first place, so I rushed to get her ASAP. If I played any particular champ while I worked up to her escapes me. My first true main, however, is Riven. ...As I said, I like fighting games, gimme a break...
