ARAM Bans

Quite simply put, ARAM has a problem with ARAM only accounts and rerolls. The whole point of ARAM is to play a quick game with a random champ, but the reality of it is that the majority of the time you have to face a opposing team that has 1 to 3 ARAM god champs. ARAM only accounts and up to 2 rerolls per player numerically virtually guarantees this. There are basically two ways to easily eliminate the annoyingness and general frustration of being forced to play dodgeball, turret hug for the entire game, or facing the same basic lineup almost every game.

  1. The easiest would be to bring the bans back. Yes there was a vocal minority who did not like them, but every single poll released had them at 60-75 percent approval rate with the majority closer to the 75%. It gave you the agency to decide to not face some of the god tier champs and it forced more champ diversity. Side note: giving players a modicum of agency nearly always increases satisfaction and mitigates the frustration if the opposing team still gets one or two ARAM gods because at least they didnt have to face the champ they banned. The data did reflect that more champs were played in response.

  2. Probably the best option would be to unlock all champs for this mode. It might take a bit more programming to have it as an exception as compared to owned champs for SR. However, this method would in effect completely eliminate ARAM only accounts and make ARAM actually more random. If you keep the current reroll system, then folks could still get out of playing a champ that they really hate. And if one does get a champ that is less known, it is a great mode to get a feel of what a champ can do. After all, is supposed to be RANDOM, not just a few champs one likes.

Regardless, you might have a problem with slightly increased dodging. An easy way would be to increase the penalty for repeated dodges, especially for the quick modes.

the issue was the bans detract from the idea of aram

yes im aware that the aram accounts do that as well, but the issue was they took bans away because players were only banning very specific champions that would do better on the enclosed map than they normally would on sr

just making it that all champions are available to everyone on aram is the easier (and lesser of two evils)

Honestly 1 or 2 or a combo of both would be super. Maybe one guaranteed re-roll per match as well.

ARAM is so much fun when you get pitted against an Illaoi, a Miss Fortune, and a Nunu. So great, so random, so totally not deciding the match from the start!

To me it's not aram only accounts but rather certain champions that are more applicable in aram style gameplay are picked extremely more. Of course you'd pick a +2 champ over a -2 champ unless you like looney(sadly that's me). Bans thinned them out, but it was more of a scorched earth approach that punishes those who play those champs conservatively.

The annoyance of it is that riot is a notoriously slow to patch aram. Like how long it took from the first bilgewater change to this iteration.

I tend to hate aram only account when they dodge queue five times in a row which is indeed abusing the system to get better champs and waste me 10 mins, while I main tank & support and only dodge when I have urgent shit to do...
