Dont nerf celerity

Imfao··82 votes·3,703 views

Dont nerf it again back to 3% it'll be completely garbage. its already a nerf from old MS quints which gave u 4.5%. just keep it at 4% any lower and its simply not viable whatsoever. if you must then nerf the damage it returns but dont nerf the ms.

as someone who mains immobile mages we need this rune intact

Ew that is on the pbe. Whhyyy.

Ikr, sol will be even more garbage. Mages are already not that strong and now they will be losing more from that tree...

I mean celebrity is probably really strong on heca, quinn, or rengar, but imo just nerf them and not the rune...

Sagan Forever2 votes

I feel celerity should be nerfed, but not the ms yet. I think getting rid of or reducing the free stats it provides should be the first target for the nerf.

Yes the 1 ap it gives at level one is op. And definitely the 3-5 ap with tier two boots is absolutely ludicrous. The fact something like hecarim can get ~10 ad with boots triforce and his e on is just game breaking.

I decided to do some testing with Hec.

item 3009 (with Predator) item 3742 item 3078 item 3065 item 3142 item 3053 .

At level 18 with no abilities and fully charged DMP Hec gets 13 AD from Celerity, so at very least this rune represents a 13 AD increase on a standard Hec build. Using Predator summoner 6 item 3142, his E, and water walking rune in the river I can get 73 bonus AD (84 if I go over scuttle). At that point though I have 313 AD from my passive and have over 1400 movespeed both of which indicate this isn't really broken. With all that I did 771 damage with my first hit on a target dummy. That's quite a bit, but considering that he does about 700 without the rune and this is an extreme abuse case I'd say that's pretty reasonable.

Edit: Tested it with TF, who I would consider to be someone who might use it solely for the speed instead of the bonus scaling. He got 9 extra AP from it while using Luden's and Lich Bane. Overall it seems like the damage scaling on it is pretty inconsequential and the only time it's really strong is in edge cases like Hecarim+item 3142 and Predator, which should honestly should be nerfed in their own right.

What i always find strange is how much people glorify movement speed on Hecarim, when honestly he hardly gets anything out of movement speed, just a tiny bit of AD. Meanwhile you can just build AD and one-shot people.

item 3047 item 3147 item 3078 item 3142 item 3053 item 3748 + Dark Harvest.

Not gonna lie I'd still take it every single game mid lane with only 3% movespeed on it.

And +60 AD from Transcendence is fine lol. That's even more AD than an entire page stacking AD/level.

???

"OmG tHaT 4% mS 2 Str0nG, LiKe NeArLy a SeT oF QuInTs" - while you have a mastery that not only gives a set of quints but more stats than an entire rune page of per level runes. The irony

How is that OP. Mages still suck, assasins still dominate mid, nothing has changed.

I think the problem is the damage buffs that come with the movement speed being massivly abused by champions with movespeed buffs coughhecarimcough Sorry, had a bullshit champion stuck in my throat.

Hecarim was shit for most of the season and he's FINALLY good again.

and now hes too good, able to outrun literlaly everyone, no matter how much cc you throw at him, i played a game where i was kayn, enemy tema had hecarim, we had lsot a teamfight and we were all retreating, so i flash out of the enemy jungle, phased through multiple walls in our jungle, was about to get into our base and when i exited the wall he was already waiting for me and one shotted me.

Building full lethality and activating his Predator boots, allowing him to kill someone while running at 800MS towards them.

So fair.

Celerity is OP asf and 4.5% 3 movespeed quints was only niche on like 2 champs that were stormraiders surge users.

Celerity is a bullshit rune on champions that are already too mobile like Ahri or Talon, and even though I play champions like Asol and Cassiopeia I'm glad they are nerfing it, it's way too unhealthy for the game.

The only way they this rune could be healthy at 4% is if it was added to Phase Rush as a passive effect instead of being freely available to everyone else.

Imfao10 votes

its required for immobile mages who must take it in league of mobility

Immobile mages take Phase Rush for a reason..................... that's why I said add it to Phase Rush because champions like Ahri and fleet footwork users have no business taking it.

Imfao10 votes

Phase rush isn't as good as stormradiers for ranged champs , it's not viable right now. Anyway I'm pretty sure more people are taking transcendence and absolute focus is also good

The Yetii Rider2 votes

Well maybe after they nerf Celerity they can look at Phase Rush to improve it.

Durzaka1 votes

Except phase rush is actually garbage for all the old stormraiders users.

Believe it or not I ran movement speed quints on almost anyone, and all junglers. You take for granted how nice it is.

I ran MS quints on damn near everything. That 4.5% gave mad chase potential.

Tortunga1 votes

Why is it getting nerfed? 4% momvent speed isn't much, and even with stacking movement speed (like 300 extra) you get like 24 AP/14.4 AD out of it.

If it makes mobile champions to mobile just add a part that the bonus movement speed will disable for X seconds after using a dash (excluding flash).

ProfDrDeath1 votes

4% MS is about three quints worth of MS (used to be 1.5% per quint, 4.5% total). Add that it gives about 4-5 AD/AP out of it, and you have it be worth 4 old quints.

And always-on movement speed has always been a deceptively powerful stat - nerfs to their base MS led to champions falling completely out of viability before.

So you combine runes and masteries into one, and when a movespeed option comes along that's less powerful than runes without even taking into account masteries, that's too strong? I don't understand the logic.

PhearBunny1 votes

I'm not really sure why they would nerf Celerity. 4% isn't a lot, and it requires you to sacrifice other runes that are actually valuable...Sorcery is a strong tree. The bonus AP/AD Celerity provides isn't even a lot, there is only one champ that overperforms with Celerity, and his winrate is below 50%, so who cares?

Nocturne with Fleet Footwork. Q trail. E horrify speed. Phage speed. Gets like +40AD out of it, more if you build a Youmuus.

So, in his case id say its nerfable....but hes the only outlier I can think of. Hecarim maybe?...But Hecarim is a tacky piece of hot garbage.

well thats why their nerfing it mages were kicked out of meta so lets nerf everything they need to be sure they cant get back in we cant have them ruining out adc assassin meta

D2Vincent1 votes

I'd say change it so that your AP/AD would determine your MS instead of Bonus MS giving more AP/AD... Not sure how OP that'd be tho considering how Assassins would use it...

Korea absolutley adores celerity probably the reason why it is getting nerfed.

Phreak explains it rather well why they are nerfing Celerity.

Isn't that a flaw with the balance of that slot? It's almost 3 quints but that's because Phase Rush is nerfed and actual MS quints were deleted. There's all kinds of fluff runes and runes that don't work until 10 minutes or if you're snowballing so its easy for movement speed that works all game long to stand out, it's an efficient rune. They can nerf it if they plan on buffing some of the champs that -need- it but knowing Riot they're likely going to ignore champs that need that in-combat movespeed until they've been week for months.

BarryedAlive1 votes

Celerity is one of my favorite new runes and I feel that most of the champs who are taking it want it for the utility, not the damage. Under normal circumstances, you barely get any AD or AP from it. I mostly play immobile mages who, before runes reforged, I'd run MS quints depending on the matchup. Being able to have more time to avoid ganks and reposition on a champion who is 100% dead if they are caught is important. A lot of times now I have to trade off my Sorc shoes for Lucidity boots to get myself to 40% cdr (because I'm still losing my 10% from scaling runes). Lowering the MS punishes the champs who are making meaningful trade offs to take it instead of the abusers. I also play a lot of Illaoi (sorry about it) and I run this with glacial augment and approach velocity (I know... I'm weird) but it finally gives me the ability to stick to people who I get on. Quite a few bruisers/juggernauts are in a pretty rough spot right now and I think this will lower a lot of champs viability more than it seems. Or maybe it's just my champs haha. Maybe they should increase the strength of some of the corresponding runes to make them more attractive picks.

FourVsFive1 votes

The problem with the game is non mobile champs need a lot more higher base move speed.
