The Morde Dilemma:

ScarPirate here. As mordekaiser lover something I've tried to understand is why the current form of mordekaiser was allowed to exist.

After mulling reading and raging I feel I have a simple understanding. Mordekaiser, the juggernaut, was made to break the bot lane meta. With that being said, After his balancing he was left more or less to rot. Despite having the most bugs/issues of any champion in league of legends history (even accounting for olaf, Evelyn and old poppy) he manages to sit at 48% win rate.

Mordekaiser doesn't really fit as juggernaut, based on his kit. He has the lowest base stats of all juggernauts, and actually has a similar Health bar to many ranged mid lane mages. He's in the slowly base movement class (Cass and kled are special exceptions) and has none of the cc that other members of this class hold. (For reference, nautlus has the same movement speed but 4 cc abilities.) Based on these numbers morde should have incredible damage correct? Not really. Mordekaiser power is based heavily in his q (an ability Riot nerfed as well as his w passive due to how oppressive they can be) in order for morde to deal the bulk of his damage, he has to be able to keep up with you. This means that mordekaiser is very suceptible to cc, movement speed and dashes.

So what is the purpose of explaining all that? Well, in my opinion morde needs a bandage fix until Riot gets back to him. The bandage in my opinion should be: fix mordekaiser's biggest bugs (ai targeting, w bugs, item interaction bugs) and give morde his pre rework base stats. Based on my time playing morde the bug fixed alone would make him more enjoyable and the base stats buff really only benefits mordekaiser mains.

TDLR: fix a few bugs give a base stat buff

Please feel free to explain why you agree/disagree

I know how to properly use him. That doesn't change the fact he feels like garbage to play.

Slow asfaq with 2 restrictions on your speed boost, your damage is so inconsistent because of Bugs or no ability to stick to your target. With attack speed so slow that most hyper Mobile champions can dash in hit you and dash out before you could land 1 AA .

All of his abilities (except W) have a .25second cast time which is acceptable on his E. But completely unacceptable on His Q and R

one of the worst feelings is ulting a low health enemy as they enter a bush having your ult go on cooldown and watch as the enemy walks away without being cursed and the enemy champion having No ability to cleanse my ult.

I used to love Playing him. Now it's a Chore thanks Riot

I recently got into playing morde and i agree with you, he really doesn't have anything going for him. I've only maybe played about 50 games of him or so, but i often find that the only reason you can win matchups is because of your w's decent early waveclear. But with how immobile and squishy he is by default, his base damages are waaaaaay too low imo.

He could really do with some ratio buffs, seeing as the ap items you build are pretty low on ap,( item 3116 , item 3151 , item 3146 ).

As well as increasing his base armor and hp per level. The lord of metal has one of the lowest base armor values in the game at 20 (lol), whereas other juggernauts have closer to 30.

He needs at least a health buff. The shield doesn't necessarily make up for the lack of it, right now with at full shield the total health+shield is about equal to other juggernauts' health. Fixing his bugs would help tremendously, as this has caused me to lose some encounters. I'd say change the experience passive into something more useful (regular regeneration maybe, or AP into basic attacks?). Other than that, I think he is on a healthy spot and most people just haven't figured out how to properly use him. I'm having a great time with him going bot when paired with Blitz, Leona, or Thresh. I don't have any friends that play Nautilus, but he would probably work too.

Bump.

I used to be a Mordekaiser main. He used to be my favorite champion ever - the metal theme, the kit, the whole combination.

His post-rework balance and identity are both in a state of crisis. His moves are bland, bugged, and lack gusto. His effects and theme are no longer unique - replaced with washed-out Shadow Isles particles, and now he's just another undead champ. There's nothing really interesting about his playstyle, he fails to keep up with the other juggernauts, and he either comes across as horrendously overpowered, or horrifically unerpowered. There is no happy medium.

It's a shame that Rito likes to change champions that don't really need changes. I'd be willing to bet that most Morde mains nowadays are new to him - if they had played as okd Morde, they probably woudn't have stuck with him f they knew how much richer the experience once was.
