The reason YOU cannot climb elo- EXPLAINED

In Season 2 i did not play much Ranked, only a few games. I was very new to the game, like many. Season 3 i began taking the game seriously - i joined a gaming clan and began honing in my skills on the mid lane, as well as all other positions. I could not make it out of Silver, but season 4 i did and made Gold. I was humble for the rank and i was also proud of it. It was an accomplishment. Last season i took a few breaks, and did not make it back to gold. This season, i cannot seem to make it out of Silver either.

The reason is this - League of Legends is harder than it was 3 years ago. Not because of champion nerfs/buffs/reworks. It is harder because the community has bettered themselves at the game, and the players you play with in Silver, have been playing for years. 4 seasons ago, silver players were not as good as they are this season. Generally, most players stay around the elo they have been at and with that, the group of players you play with progress at the same rate as you. diamond players, usually stay in Diamond and Silver players, usually stay in Silver. . . . That being said, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. Are YOU trying to be good enough to stream and reap in viewers? Are you trying to make LCS and quit your dayjob to play League all day like a machine? If the answer is no, then there is nothing to worry about - be happy with whatever elo Riot has stuck you in. I'd be pretty pissed if Riot started matching me with Challenger players because i would feed every game unintentionally and absolutely hate playing this game because it would be too hard, . . . Play the game because you enjoy it. If you stop enjoying it, take a break. You are not here to be the best, nor climb to the top.

The players generally get better as time goes on- In my anecdotal experience it seems harder to snowball than before

Most people, (not just lower MMR) are still pretty mediocre or garbage at this game though, if not consistently, then certainly at times, whether due to skill, emotion getting the better of them or wanting to scapegoat anything but oneself

I was on the cusp of diamond last season (ended plat 1 with the banner to show for it). I realized that I can only possibly approach diamond in a favorable meta that fits my playstyle and my mains aren't trash. So I just chill out now.

True. I used to be amazed at platinum "smurfs" that couldn't carry in silver. Then I realized: unless you play a bully/carry that starts strong at level 1, good luck in the midgame when you have Nasus 1/6 against Jax with 30 stacks at 20 minutes in and they have a fed Talon that roams (thanks for the ult nerf Riot).
