League freezes since Patch 8.15

aureleei··31 votes·25,954 views

Once patch 8.15 dropped the first match i played after 10 minutes my screen started to freeze. The freezes would last for 2-10 seconds and would cause my game to be unplayable. My FPS is over 150 and my ping is below 60. The issue doesn't happen when I play fortnite, Dota 2, or CSGO only when I play league since patch 8.15. What could I do to fix this? Please do not say try fixing my resolution and stuff because I saw this on another thread and thats not it. This is a completely different problem with the client.

Yes, every match of League. No other games though

yes, every single one since the new patch.

Yes, starting with a Twitch(the champ) match on August 1st 2018 around 11AM (hawaii time) right after I downloaded the patch, around the 8 minute mark after my first kill I notice a bit of hitching in my game, but thought it may have been just lag. Again after the next engagement at the 10 minute mark my screen freezed for about 2 seconds and then my character had died, my respawn said 21 seconds. The moment my screen unfroze I was back in the fountain. I decided maybe my PC is the problem and told my team i was going to reset my computer. By the time I reset and logged back in my team had FF'd at 15 mins. Because of this I was given a 10 min afk timer. So I sat through my the timer and went on to the next match

Next game I played twitch again thought maybe it was just that match and now that I reset my PC i'll be able to play. I had a pretty good start this game, By 8 minutes I had 5 kills against the enemy Bot lane and was sure with our comp we would have the other team in their fountain by 20 minutes. Then around 9 minutes I notice the hitching again. A team fight broke out in the botlane river and i froze my way over to the fight by drake. My screen Froze by blue side bot tier 1 turret as I panned to the fight and rightclicked. After about 20 seconds my screen unfreezes as my champ is Afk auto attacking and is able to live somehow and then i tell my team again i will reset my pc because maybe my pc is just messed up. But this has never happened before until this patch which was weird. Mhy screen freezes as i press Alt F4 and B so i recall as i leave, and then my screen unfreezes and the clock went from 11 minutes to 12 minutes and I had 1 death that I dont even know how it got there. I reset my Pc go back on the client and my Team had already FF'd by 20 minutes. My account now said I had a 20 Min AFK timer.

Frustrated with the timer I decide to go on my second Acct and hop straight into a match and at 8 minutes sure enough I was freezing in small increments and by 10 minutes I had full freezes for over 30 seconds. I try one more time at the end of the day before I sleep that maybe I can play a match back on my main account. I sit through the 20 minutes, go into a match and at the 8 minute mark i notice hitching and by the 10 minute mark i Have screen freezes again. Completely done with the day and probably being demoted I decide to sleep. Today i logged on and sure enough I go down a division, the 20 min AFK timer reset so I have to sit through 5 queue timers again instead of 4 now. It is not just my computer because I tried playing my second account again on my laptop, which is not relating to my pc and also was freezing on there. I experienced the freezing on again at 8 and was completely unplayable at 10 mins.

I wish to play league but don't want to endure the queue timers and the freezing once im in game but I decided to update my NVIDIA Driver and I am waiting through a queue timer right now, if it was just my driver that was the problem i will update you on that after the match.

Exit the match as soon as you meet the first freeze and reconnect without resetting pc. This does the trick for me, granted it's super annoying and you loose about a minute afking

Moody Jazz2 votes

In my case, I couldn't even get to Task Manager to kill it. No shortcuts worked, the whole PC froze up.

LightIsMyPath1 votes

This happens to me, eventually, if I don't reconnect. The freezes start getting worse and worse the longer the game goes and eventually result in a complete block.

LightIsMyPath6 votes

Hello! Showing up to say I have the same issue, it happens every game after the first minutes and it's solved by exiting the game and reconnecting (in fact if there's a record of disconnections every single game I played on the patch has at least one). If I don't dc the screen freezes get progressively worse, eventually forcing me to close lol process from task manager to unlock it and be able to reconnect

There’s people like me who’ve been having a similar issue for 10 months now (annoying freezes and frequent stuttering), it seems to happen with some AMD systems only so I think it could be hard for you to track, and it all started with the preseason patch (new health bars+runes reforged).

I’ve tried to write to Riot JxE on Reddit and he confirmed that they need more data to track this issue down, but I’ve had no update on the matter after 3 months.

I know that you probably have nothing to do with it but preseason performance issues are still a thing for some players and there’s no fix on our end, the game is basically unplayable and it’s getting really frustrating.

Could you possibly ask some engineer/JxE about this issue and possibly give us an update? 10 months of unplayable matches with freezes and insanely low FPS are a terrible experience, and it’s sad that it happens on League but not on heavier games/MMOs.

It's not just AMD. I just upgraded from my 1070 to a 1080 and on every game it runs so smooth but on League it feels like im playing at 30 fps all the time

yes. all of them starting around 10 minutes in getting worse till about 25 when i have to restart. the pauses get longer and more frequent

I also have a MSI GS65 and the screen freeze happens in all my games. Short freezes around 5-7 minutes into the game and then long freezes all the time starting at about 10 minutes. If I exit the client and reenter the game, the freeze no longer happens for that game. Need to repeat every game.

I have the same issue, in every single normal match + custom mode + training mode. Freezing happens after around 7 minutes in game. If no action is taken, it can last for more than 20 seconds. During the freeze, environment sound keeps playing, but game sound effects stop. Pressing a random key can sometimes get out of it.

I fixed it. It was a NahimicSrc32.exe audio service with 100% CPU utilization.

summoner 4 Solution summoner 4

  1. Uninstall Realtek audio drivers and all related softwares (Sonic, Nahimic, Sound Console, etc.)
  2. At this point the issue should not happen again, because now Microsoft HD Audio driver is used.
  3. (Optional) Reinstall the latest audio driver downloaded from either your motherboard/laptop manufacturer or Realtek. Even though Nahimic service may be installed again, only NahimicServices.exe will be run which is fine.

Update 08/04: In some cases, **uninstalling Sonic related software only **is enough to get rid of NahimicSvc32.exe.

Yeah, I actually think it's any sound problem, It almost always happens (like 90% of the times) when I'm listening to a noisy song in the Spotify. Will try that, since ive tried all the possible methods, reinstalled the game, used the Hextech Repair Tool, updated the drivers and it still happens. Will edit this post if it works, I hope so.

I'm having this problem too except the freezes worsen the longer I play and the last three games I played I couldn't even be apart of in the end because my screen was frozen. I just bought an msi gs63 too!

Same here, with my msi gs65. Exact same thing - the only way to fix it is to restart mid-game

I'm having this same issue. I have an MSI GS65, it has an 8th gen i7 and a Geforce 1070... In no world should it be freezing like this

EDIT: The only way to stop it is to restart my laptop MID GAME, not even before queuing up

06 SEI2 votes

This is happening to me too!!! I thought I was the only one since in so many games no one else had the same problem.

At first the freeze is barely noticeable and happens once every few minutes. then every freeze gets a bit longer and it escalates to the point where i'm freezing for 2 seconds each minute or even twice a minute. I don't let it get any worse than that because i disconnect and then relaunch the game. This fixes things, but I really hate having to do that as it wastes so much time in game.

I JUST FIXED IT THIS IS FROM SOME DUDE FROM EU

"Bryçe Walker (EUW) - about 18 hours ago I had the same issue. It seems to work normally for me now, but I'm gonna test it out in a few more games to be certain.

Here's what I did so far: Update all Drivers Update BIOS to the newest version Update EC to the newest version Run Hextech Repair Tool to completely reinstall the game

None of this helped, until I found that during the freezes, my CPU load was exceptionally high. The culprit was a program called Nahimic. I think its some kind of audio driver. As the game went on, it used up more and more CPU load, until everything became unplayable. The process that did this was called "nahimicSvc32.exe".

So, I uninstalled Nahimic as completely as I could, ran CCleaner, restarted my Laptop and then found some cmd commands to help me write a quick batch script for closing any Nahimic processes that may be left.

To do that, open an empty notepad file and write the following:

echo on title LIVE setup: spring cleaning echo echo Live SETUP echo echo Killing nasty processes echo taskkill /f /im "NahimicService.exe" taskkill /f /im "NahimicSvc32.exe" taskkill /f /im "NahimicSvc64.exe" taskkill /f /im "MSIService.exe" taskkill /f /im "AGSService.exe" taskkill /f /im "ShareX.exe" pause

Save the file, remove the .txt and put .bat instead. Run that as administrator. I let that run every now and then, just to be sure.

Just played a game and it was the first in like 4 days without any issues. Hope that helps someone else, since it took me like 3 days to figure all this out."

IT SEEMS LIKE nahimicSvc32.exe is the problem you don"t need to uninstall you can simply disable the service!!!!!!! NahimicService Nahimic service

Same thing here. For a few days i have quick freezes, long freezes and long loading screen time stuck at 0%. No Nahimic installed. Just lost a ranked game for my team [sg-janna]

N0ne1 votes

Open your task manager, make it always on top, and sort processes by CPU utilization. Check if there are any processes (for most people it's Nahimic*.exe) that has higher and higher CPU utilization as a training mode game starts.

You don't have to directly install Nahimic to have NahimicSvc running in the background. Realtek Audio Driver and SonicStudio/Radar have them installed by default.item 3151

Hope it´s okay to bump old posts but anyway after coming here with this issue since season 8 and reading the comments I can see the problem is obviously with audio drivers like steelseries engine in my case. It was the equalization settings and I had to disable them in order to fix this issue. I also noticed that the crash occurs most of the time when Im playing music on spotify and playing league as it makes the process use more CPU load. Just wanted to simplify the problem for anyone still having it and not finding nahimicSvc32.exe or any other audiodriver on their process list.

EDIT: Yeah and i never had problems when playing with speakers so that is also a good soulution if you use those equalization settings for something else like music production, etc..

Ok sure but why1 votes

Oh, exiting the game and rejoining it seems to do the trick for me. It goes from freezing every 20 seconds to no freezing at all. Weird.

I can see everyone else moving but I myself cannnot Move, use abilities, auto attack, ping or text, it renders the game completely unplayable.

Same here. In recent patches, the freeze would last like ms... and you wouldn't notice a freeze, but some inputs got lost if you clicked or pressed a key in those exact ms... since last patch that is waaay more noticeable as the freezes would last seconds at a time and would be spaced by just 2-3 seconds. It's UNPLAYABLE. I'm on MacOS Mohave. MacBook 2017
