Bring Martyr's Gambit back as a permanent item

The thing about tanks is that, if they don't have damage, taunts, knock - ups, slows, they aren't a threat and can be ignored and then focused on once the rest of the team has been dispatched. However, with Martyr's Gambit![item 3911](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.20.1/img/item/3911.png) , they can finally have an impact while waiting for cooldowns, and make good use of the armor/magic/health they have built up during the match.

The 3 second duration is fairly in a sense as it can be used to prevent a valuable ally against any burst of damage during team fights and rewards more skillful players for timing the active down. The item itself brought a lot of tanks and supports the item they needed most: something to keep themselves in lane with health regen, cooldown on spells and shields, and giving tanks the ability to be useful as a support for their team rather than just a wall with no real battle potential.

I hope this little post gets the attention it deserves, and hope even Riot sees this and consider bringing it back as a permanent item and finally give tank supports a real support item aside of Locket of the Iron Solari, and the gold gaining items, and made supports a valuable member of every match. Thank you for your time, and I hope this catches the eye of the community!

Honestly, it would probably be too good an item in regular play. The obvious choice of who to activate on is the carry, not much decision making, not terribly much counterplay either.

Yes, as a support tank, it would be used on the adc, however if you feel it's still unbalanced, the cost of the item, or even cooldown of the active could be increased as to make more fair. Martyr's Gambit itself, can be useful for junglers to save ally champions that are about to die and potentially save someone's life.

This would make certain champions useless then. Zed would have more counter play, and other burst champions would be weaker.

You'll still damage the person, just not as much. It's not as bad as being completely negated like from Zhonya's Hourglass. And you're also forgetting that it's an active that has a cool down and also has a distance limitation. If that tank is not close enough to activate, or the ally that is targeted moves too far away, the link is broken. So if you play your cards right and take out wandering players as you should, you'll be fine. You'd just have to plan out before you go ulting into a group as you should be doing.

Actually, you've got it all wrong. It's not the thing about tanks, it's the thing about champs. If you don't have much cc (or any control really), then you aren't a very successful tank. By any control, it doesn't mean to have real cc. If you have some good items and go charging in as Olaf, they will run unless they are stupid(ly fed). Another problem with a bad tank is if they feed and fall behind, they are useless without cc,

That is true, but the item is meant to be rushed, and is obviously not meant for all supports. This item is more specifically created for tanks such as Braum, Taric, Leona, Zac, etc. Someone who can take the hits and be able to stun, slow, or knock - up. As you can see it wouldn't be as helpful on certain supports that don't have much or any way to escape such as Soraka.

But you said the item is supposed to help tanks without damage, taunts, knock-ups, and slows.

Tanks are literal walking walls. I said this item can make use of the health and armor they've built up. As a player you should see what abilities your champion has. This item's active can only be used to take damage for another player and soften the blow of any incoming damage over a short amount of time. Your Zed should be fine if you're smart enough to be patient and attack when the moment is presented and not accidentally misuse your ult. Most importantly, remember that there must be teamwork between the tank and the ally that's been granted the passive. It's not really meant to be used as an offensive weapon, but more as a defensive gadget to ensure that your ally lives, not go 5 v 1.

Isnt that the item that turns the ADC into a tank?

Yeah, no.

Yes, its' active reduces incoming damage for 3 seconds. After that, said ADC is back to it's state, not to mention that ADCs move around a lot, and in breaking the bond required for the active to work, stops the active dead cold. If you're not patient enough to wait 3 seconds to get the max out of your attacks, or simply bait the ADC to break that bond, you'll be just fine. And that's not to mention the fact that the support has to be a tank. If that tank hasn't built up any kind of defense against your AP/AD damage, they're just as in trouble as that ADC they tried to to save.
