Why I don't like the Fiora and Gangplank reworks

I was going to write a long post detailing my thoughts on this, but this can honestly just be boiled down to this:

They now revolve around playing mini-games.

Gangplank is now all about his barrels instead of his old hit and run playstyle. Potentially more rewarding? Maybe. More boring than rewarding imo.

Fiora is now all about playing her weird positional mini-game that seems to be destined to never pay off. She no longer has a "wow" button, too. Very boring.

Focus has shifted from your opponents to these mini-games in both instances.

Their old kits were super boring and one-dimensional. The GP rework was meh for me but I like the Fiora rework a lot.

gangplanks rework is pretty awesome.

more boring are you kidding me? old gangplank was literally, run up to your opponent, hope for a q crit, run away. repeat. new gangplank is much more interesting.

I prefer the old one for playing Critplank mid, personally. Dunno. Just doesn't feel good. Maybe I just need to get used to it, but I'm not very inclined to considering I liked the old version.

you still can play critplank. manage your barrels properly and its better than before.

you get 60% armor pen aoe parrley crits. hes a beast at splitpushing and can blow up an enemy team with those things. the mistake ive seen most gangplanks make is throw the barrels directly on their opponents and fight with them who detonates it, instead of working with explosion chains.

not to mention, his passive deals a good 400 true damage with a crit build lategame. you reset the thing on barrels, and youre gonna destroy even the tankiest opponent.

That's my main problem with it, though. The playstyle has shifted pretty dramatically to the point that it basically got rid of what I found fun about playing him.

I like new GP a lot more than old one. He can still do what he did as the old one. He also just has death barrels.

Fiora, I agree on though. RNG weak points and nothing particularly exciting, lackluster ult, too much focus on a not that rewarding minigame. Much preferred old Fiora TBH.

My worry is that this kind of design is going to become a trend.. Hopefully not.

Gangplank is now all about his barrels instead of his old hit and run playstyle. Potentially more rewarding? Maybe. More boring than rewarding imo.

Gangplank's basic attacks periodically ignite his target, dealing 20 + (10 × Gangplank's Level) (+ 120% Bonus AD) bonus True Damage over 1.5 seconds and granting Gangplank 30% bonus Movement Speed for 2 seconds.

Destroying a Powder Keg instantly readies Trial by Fire and grants its bonus Movement Speed.

That said, if you think potential 60% Armor-ignoring AoE crits are more boring than rewarding, then that's on you, I guess. To me, it beats a flat AD boost that literally just sat there until you activated it to make it slightly stronger for a moment.

I do find it boring. :P

But again, just my opinion. I also did prefer Raise Morale's on demand AD/MS boost as opposed to the MS boost granted by his new passive. Also, didn't his old passive proc on his Q? Feel like it did.

I totally agree. I enjoy playing league of legends, and if it starts becoming league of arbitrary mini-games, then the incentive for me to play drops significantly.

I am trying to get the hang of focusing on the map for ganks, and focus on the macro game, and focus on CS, now focusing on these mini games is too much for my bronzeness to handle

Aiming skill shots is a part of every highly mechanical champion. The difficulty they added to Gangplank and Fiora IMO made their power level acceptable. There is no greater satisfaction than landing a chain of barrels into a triple kill and laughing your way all to the nexus and the payoff for Fiora landing her ult is massive. You're complaining about two of the most basic champs in the game finally getting some skill requirement. Downvoted.
