I cant say I've literally ever had a fun game playing against one in lane.

He's strong early, he's unstoppable late game, if you try to poke him down he just stays back and farm with Q, if you try to assassinate him he just pushes you away with the wall or dashes away, he gets a free auto after his Q for god knows why, and post six he will literally just spam Q then get a free auto until you're forced to either fight him, back or wait for jungler help, and even then he'll still probably get away because he can take flash/cleanse or flash/heal and still have his Q->E->R up to get away. He has such a retardedly overloaded kit that has the tools to deal with almost every midlaner whether they're an assassin or supposed to farm all game. Even if you by some miracle manage to shut him down early, if the game makes it past 30 minutes he'll still be just as unstoppable as he would be if he was fed because of how well his kit scales into later game. Not to mention he has arguably the best zoning in the game with his soldiers re-positioned every few seconds to his whim, a turret, and an impassable wall.

He's just so ridiculously unfun to play against and it doesn't help that almost half of the Azir players I see is toxic as hell about winning with an overloaded champion like its hard or something.

Have you ever tried to play Azir? He really hard to play properly. When i lose to Azir i just tip my cap. Now losing to Annie? thats just rough

as much as i like playing azir, however, i kinda agree. His zoning and lane control is kinda ridiculous considering how hard he scales. I think that's just the nature of his kit, however, which means it might be fundamentally broken. But that seems to be the trend with a lot of new champs Yasuo Kalista etc.

one thought I have is that his soldiers are pretty damn inexpensive at all points in the game. You can't spam Q & E in lane or you will go oom very quickly, however, you can spam the shit out of W and shoves waves. If your opponent doesn't play aggressive, he can quickly and easily build a lead and take control of the lane. However, I think a good nerf would be to increase the mana cost and/or cool down for his W early on.

idk though, that said, there are definitely a few champions that dumpster him in lane. Id suggest picking a counter and doing your best to shit on him in lane thus delaying and possibly disallowing his late game.
