Hey remember banning multi-monitors and zoomhacks together?

Pepperidge farm remembers. 3 Years and no change?

I kind of just want to watch things burn. There was also a comment by Zileas in response to not the same thread, but similar one, that was never acknowledged in the OP Mirage made.

(By Zileas) Me.

Strangely, I did it to make a better game, so I don't think it counts as 'sadism'.

The game plays better and controls better at a slightly narrow, slightly paranoid view level. How do I know this? Because we messed around with it some early during development.

We want people to make errors in looking around to get ganked. That also does help you gank at non-pro skill levels.

Also, if we allowed ANY zoom, a lot of people would feel compelled to play at the max, even though they were having more frustration controlling things, and a less visually pleasing experience. They would also suffer at the same time in both directions from a different lane feel.

So, we set the rules as they are, and demand that people keep the playing field even between them and their opponents and everyone wins out. It's sortof like having a waiting line at Chipotle. If they didn't, and just served whoever muscled to the front first, it would work just fine, but the overall experience is better with the minor rule. Field of view is the same way.

Anyway, please don't run programs that modify your game memory and protected values.

TL;DR, There was a huge topic in 2012 about why it is people get banned for Zoomhacks despite people being able to run multimonitor or excessively high resolution setups which affected the view port just as much. In the end the response was "Neither is intended and one is worked against (Zoom hacks) and the other will be unsupported in the future (multiple displays)"

To be frank, the thing Zileas said has inklings of merit, and is a nice idea in theory, but the fact that it doesn't translate at all to practice where millions of players have millions of different setups basically invalidates it. So I'm sorry your study on the effects of field of vision limiting having good effect on atmosphere and information clinching are moot, but they're moot. How bout that banning of multi monitor setups? Or will Riot change their stance to "ok well fuck just go buy a private exploit that will never get publically distributed and play how you want because realistically contending is a waste of manhours"

I just like this discussion really, I would barely even zoom out, anymore than the 10% I mentioned in the second post of that ancient conflict. I don't care personally and I don't think the advantage is meaningful or worth crying about, but it is definitely a thing and I'm not a particularly invested League player, just a long standing one. edit: Forgot namechanges don't carry over, I'm leminlyme for summoner 13 )

_personal note, I see a lot of old names in that topic, a few of which that actually became some manner of community or actual Rito staff. Grats to them! _

I don't get why zoomhacks are banned if the fog of war exists, it just adds layers of inconvenience to playing
