What was wrong with the game that we needed Boneplate?
Seriously, who was complaining that there was too much burst damage or something and we needed a rune like that? I just don't understand the reasoning behind it.
Sometimes an ADC will take it, and why wouldn't he. He now takes less damage from any burst he takes, and he has more time to get shielded up, position, or life steal it out.
More often a support is now taking it because they often won't have it on CD before a fight and now they are burst immune, by burst immune, I mean, you can't 100-0 them anymore, they just get 100-5 now. So they live.
Some jungles are now taking it because why not have the extra durability when they come to gank? Make a mistake, it's covered by bone plate
Gnar/GP and tanks are taking it top, because why not have a brain dead keystone that secures laning phase from a bruiser?
If the whole premise of bone plate was to give top lane "bruisers/fighters" more durability/survivability, then you missed the mark greatly and it's being used by the wrong people. Bruisers/fighters do not care about tank stats or health, it's nice to have, but we just want raw ad, or a mix of AD and attack speed.
Some or a lot of you will say that it's easily activated and it has a long CD to play around, and you are correct, however, in some matchups, going in to proc the bone plate means taking a very unfavorable trade, and when it is on CD, that person is going to play extra safe and not even be close to trying to get in another trade before it's back up.
