New Ranked Champion Select is a joke....

Alright, I have not played this game since Sept of last year. (Was Plat 1) So I come back, ready to get my gaming on. I choose my champion and use the seconds I have to go through the new masteries to pick and my runes to choose the best for me. (Usually only takes me the length of champion select to figure it out) My turn to pick, I choose my one and only League of Draven, use the seconds I have left to set up my masteries and boom... I'm kicked? Wtf? I chose a champion, the seconds are for me to get PREPARED for the battle, not a kicking mechanism... How can I be afk if I chose a champion and was adjusting some masteries? Wow, So now, 1st loss in promo. Because of this stupid mechanism. New champion select is a joke for this very reason. Shouldn't be required to "lock in" if you already chose a champion. Me being a family man, I often use the seconds I have to get my kids food/drinks so I can have a peaceful gaming session... this is a joke..
