Warning if you do not have Smite - Jungle.

SpaceyNinja··3 votes·1,352 views

This is a suggestion:

During queue - Warn the person in jungle lane if they forget to grab smite after some delay ( maybe 10 - 15 seconds after picking champion?)

We have all done it once - forget smite. It didn't used to be so bad but now you cannot buy a jungle item without it!

PLEASE RIOT consider adding a warning of some sort. It is similar to front-end (javascript) web form validation - it isn't necessary but it is very helpful to end users. As would be a warning system. Perhaps even ward the entire team so they can flame the person who forgot.

Example story: Today I forgot smite - then couldn't buy a freaking jungle item which set me back even further. It is like getting double punished for forgetting to grab smite. It was even more painful because I was in promos to rank up into a new division. We lost pretty badly because of this. I didn't get lvl 2 despite killing red buff. Tried to krugs then had to back. Then went straight to blue after backing. Their jungle at this time ganked..while i was still lvl 1.

Thanks!

that isn't an issue with the game and don't blame riot for your mistake...

instead of being tabbed out during champ select , idk try paying attention

you are at fault no one else...

So that means that Riot shouldn't implement a warning system? It doesn't have any negative impact does it? All it does is improve player experience. What you are saying is like telling someone it is their fault for not being able to navigate a messy website. Sure, it is, but there could be efforts on the other end to improve user experience right?

dude how hard is it to change masteries the moment you enter champ select ?

how much do people bitch about how long the ban/champ select phase take?

how many afk checks do they have where the make you lock and and so on?

at which point do you not have to click a button twice for .5 seconds ?

Fondling Gems1 votes

Dude, let me counter all that with: "How hard is it to make an alert 15 seconds before a game gets locked in if no one on a team has smite?"

Hint, the answer is "Not Hard"

The client is capable of sending in champ select notifications, the client knows how much time is left, and the client knows what summoner spells we have selected. As a programmer I could probably set up something that would proc a notification in half an hour tops without knowing how the new client works. All it would take is finding the appropriate values and running them through a simple if statement.

You seem to be anti this and I don't understand why. It would take very little work, wouldn't negatively impact anyone's experience, and it would boost the experience of people who are forgetful. There is no reason not to ask for it or to complain if it is implemented.

but lets just say WHAT IF ... you werent going for a jungle role... maybe duo top? cuz your a premade and wanna try some shit out ? but in order to have the team go into champ selection all 5 "traditional meta" roles have to be filled and its gonna try to alert you to say you dont have smite cuz someone is gonna be placed at "jungle" then what? ignore it?

well if you say IGNORE IT then you cant have it both ways...

so THE SIMPLE SOLUTION IS TO JUST PAY ATTENTION

Except that you are acknowledging that your team isn't going to have smite. It is just like how outside of premade 5 mans you are put into one of 5 positions. Having the 5 positions laid out is easier, but if you are breaking away from that then you are acknowledging that.

You are already ignoring role selection, getting a notification that your team doesn't have a smite is still good to be aware of for all the players. You are trying to justify a boon to the majority be saying that it would annoy a minority, when it already has a worse impact on the majority. Of that minority they are already aware they are going to be doing it and it is just a friendly reminder that your team will be lacking the ability to secure objectives with smite.

no im saying its not an issue.. if you are miss that detail while you are in champ select for 3+ mins as it is chances are you are gonna miss smite anyways so whats the point of having it ?

Fondling Gems1 votes

Because it would still help. Know I had a game maybe.... a month back? Totally remembered smite. Shame I remembered it 2 seconds before the game started and couldn't change over in time. At the time a notification would have been nice.

Even if it just helped 1/10 people who forget smite remember it then it still a good thing. You could even have the notification be Jgler role only to prevent it from annoying others. That way the only people who would get the notification without wanting it would be duoers who want to duo top. Any 5 mans who want a duo top wouldn't get the notification because you can have two tops if you do that.

there use to be a time and day in league where players were responsible for learning and knowing what to do to win and be effective and good at the game now every one wants riot to do it for them

its just a reflection of society today... no one wants to be responsible for themselves big brother needs to put warning labels and bubble wrap on everything and every one gets a trophy n no red marks on test

You.... don't look on the bright side of things do you? Could you, just try mind you, looking for the positive in something instead of going straight to the negative? I see you fairly frequently on the boards I very rarely see you being positive about much of all.

You talk about us wanting to be coddled and whatnot but perhaps we are just suggesting to learn from the mistakes of others to improve the world we live in? When man realized hunting was inconvenient we began to learn to farm. When man realized walking long distances was a pain and it made it hard to transport supplies man created various vehicles. Perhaps the time has come where man has realized forgetting smite is a pain in the ass so we create a notification.

It isn't about responsibility, it is about removing needless strain on our lives, which is the whole purpose of technology. If anything we are taking responsibility by analyzing the issue, coming up with possible solutions, looking at the pros and cons and bringing them to the attention on those that can implement them. Isn't that taking responsibility at it's core? Doing what one can to solve one's issues?

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

lol needless strain when you sit at home in front of a machine that magically connects to other machines and you play videos games

man when has life ever been so hard ?

oh wait...

and im not negative .. just cuz i dont agree dont mean im negative... you have the right to your opinion and i have the right to mine ...

dont make either of us right

and there is always a need for a voice for the other side... regardless of what the other side is.

Yes, technology is about removing needless strain. Do you find it stressful or annoying when you or your jungler forget smite? Then there is perfectly good reason to do something about it. You are saying that just because something is a minor annoyance we should ignore it when something could be done. Do you leave a splinter in just because it is a minor injury? If you have a cut do you not put a band aid on it just because your arm isn't pouring out blood? Of course not, or if you don't then you really should because even minor wounds can get infected. Please take better care of yourself.

Just because something is minor doesn't mean we shouldn't work on it. The saying "If it isn't broken don't fix it" is very close minded because one can always improve. Sure it may not be a huge issue, but for the amount of work required to make it better it may very well be worth doing.

Also you might want to work on how you phrase things. I personally am often a devil's advocate, I can argue perfectly well for both sides of an argument. One does not need to sound negative when doing so. You sound very negative in the majority of your posts that I have seen regardless of the side you are arguing for.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

no i dont ... but it dont matter what you think soo

oh and when it comes to TECHNOLOGY i work with it EVERYDAY

Fondling Gems1 votes

Ok just gonna mention that neither of those comments make sense.

  1. I am telling you that the way you are typing comes off as negative. That isn't something you have a say about because I am telling you the vibe I get from the way you write.

  2. Completely irrelevant to anything. If you mean to deny my claim that technology exists to fix issues then state it as such and provide evidence. If you meant something else then state that. If you simply meant to inform me that you work with technology then I guess you succeeded. As a side note I also work with technology, specifically programming as I mentioned above. In fact I am technically a professional programmer as I have a paying job in the industry teaching kids to program.

There was a day and time where junglers also actually didn't NEED to have smite in order to jungle, and people forgot smite all the time then too, they just didn't NEED it as much as they do now. This would not create ANY problem with the game and would have NO negative side effects. It'd be about as annoying as those little tips that appear on the legacy client telling you bits of info in the old champ select. In other words, so annoying I never even clicked "don't show this popup again".

As for the negative things you've said, just a second...

(Again, people forgot smite ALL THE TIME in the earlier days STILL, thing is, it didn't matter as much. It wasn't tied to an item, and it didn't have buffs to it. It literally only made you clear somewhat faster and take objectives a bit easier)
