[ POLL ] Should the Practice Tool Allow Players to Choose Any Champ?

I really like the Practice tool, however, it is frustrating that I am not allowed to pick anyone I want in it. There are times i want to try a champion before i buy it, so that i can try builds and some playstyles for them. I also would like to add to it, that by playing that champion I do not own, I can see what his scalings are (which i can't see until I play the champ) and how he/she works with certain runes. By limiting us to only champions we own, it prevents new players to try out champions that they might like to buy.

Many of Riot's ads online states that there is a champion for everyone, but if you limit how they can explore certain champion playstyles they may have a hard time finding a comfortable champion. Even for me, After months of playing, I have yet to play all the champions I wanted to try, and the information on the champion information screen is too limited for my tastes. I want everyone have a chance to "test drive" a champion before they buy.

Ok sure but why3 votes

There are so many things Riot needs to add to the Practice tool, man

They said months ago it will change, still waiting for it. Bringing at least 1 friend, and trying out champions there before you buy would be the biggest things to it making it very very useful.

I've made whole posts on this before, but I believe they should rework everything in the Practice Tool so that pinging it will pull out a list of options unique to the thing that was pinged. Jungle camps, items, abilities, passives, anything with stacks, minions, turrets, champions, you name it. That would be sooooo useful in a mode where pinging strategically wasn't a necessity.

I mean, that's what the pbe is for.

What if people do not want to use the PBE? We shouldn't be "forced" to install a separate client just to try out a champion in the practice tool.

Also, the PBE is meant to be an environment for Riot to observe and test stuff as we play. Ping on the server can be very high for many players outside the U.S. and is down often enough for frequent patching they do. This is not me saying this, this is Riot themselves on their PBE frequently asked questions.

There is also a log-in que if too many players want to try the PBE update that leaves the players wanting to try a champion in the Practice Tool waiting for the client to let them play.

Also the PBE is like installing a whole new game on your computer!! That is extra space on your computer and more bandwidth just to try out a champion on the Practice Tool? This is may be a solution, but definitely not a viable one for those who just want to try out a champion on the practice tool that is not on rotation.

And for the record, that is not what the PBE is for. It is for bug testing and helping Riot make a better product.

It's for whatever you want it to be for.

Pbe is a privilige. Not everyone can even use it. Your honor has to be high enough for you to even install it. Which is why a lot of things is more accessible on there and not on the regular server. How hard do you think it is for riot to unlock all champs in practice mode? It's obviously intentional that you can only practice champs that you have already purchased.

Well Riot has said before that they know the Practice Tool is not perfect and that they want to make some changes to it. Voices should be heard if Riot wants to improve, and this is something people would enjoy to see added in the main client. Also, People really want to be able to see the feature to add another person into the practice tool. I know other games that allow players to bring a partner to a practice mode, and try every champion/hero. Players can try combos, or even fight each other of some battle data with certain builds to test stuff in a control environment. This would help many players by giving them the competitive they need to improve.

It's been months since they said they would make any changes to the training tool, and it hasn't happen yet. I would like to see this added for the next season, especially since I plan to train and teach some new players the game when the new season starts.

As for the PBE purpose, Riot has said on their PBE FAQ page.

"The Public Beta Environment (PBE) is a League server where you can play with upcoming features, content and experiments that aren't yet (and may never be) ready for prime time. We rely on testers' feedback to help find bugs in new content, flesh out new features, and confirm that a champion or update is well-tuned before they go live."

This is the goal and purpose of the PBE client. To download it for just to try a champion out before you buy it in a mode that you can't even compete or earn any XP so you can test drive a champion is not a good reason to get the PBE. It also is installing an entire new game copy that takes up a LOT more space on your computer and MORE BANDWIDTH since it will be updated more frequently. Why sacrifice all this time, bandwidth, and storage space just to play a champion or two for 20-30 minutes to see if it is worth buying.
