The day I picked Cleanse as a Summoner's.

So I was going ham as Tristana (ONE CANNON, MAXIMUM EFFORT) and in champion select saw that the enemy team had picked a Malzahar . So, by my logical assumption, if a Zed ult can be cleansed: I reasoned that Cleanse as a Summoner's spell would work against Malzahar's ult.

Which was apparently not true as I died to his ult twice after attempting to cleanse it off. WHY

Rofl..neither Zed's nor Malzahars ult can be cleansed.

wait what? Zed's ult can't be cleansed.

It can be QSS'ed...not sure about the cleanse; but I was under the impression that a cleanse and QSS work similarly. I maybe wrong.

Cleanse is 100% weaker than qss in every respect. It removes fewer things and has a much longer cooldown.

Read Cleanse. It only affects disabling effects like slows and stuns, excluding suppressions.

suppressions cannot be cleansed

But doesn't a QSS and Cleanse work in much the same way? It's not a silence; and a cleanse is meant to clear all spells, slows and debuffs on you, no?

It removes disables like stuns and slows. Suppressions however remove your ability to use summoner spells, so you can't use cleans while suppressed

zed ult and malz ult cant be cleansed. u need to actually read the tooltip, cleanse doesnt remove all debuff like qss.

Athenes Lulu3 votes

Only item 3140 can remove either of that.

QSS is a much better option against Malz.

Magic Resist and it removes his E DoT.

The Bíg Ticket3 votes

Removes 3 of his 4 spells actually. Q E and R.

Zerfallen1 votes

Very true.

Forgot about the silence being removable!

QSS is so broken vs malz :(

Actually wasn't there a thing were you could cleanse the tether before the suppression kicked in since its not literal instant, slight channel.

correct me if I'm wrong

item 3140 removes malz ult zed ult morde ult darius bleed, ww ult brand burn tahm kench w braum passive stacks lissanda ult mumu ult basically anything that isnt a displacement pretty much

It actually does remove the stun from displacements, so you can flash out if you QSS while you are in the air.

the stun yes, but not the displacement itself is what i meant

I've seen boxbox dozens of times go after a vayne and qss the second the condemn hits him and he doesn't get knocked back any longer than his reaction time allows.

Because Malzahar's ult prevents the target from using Summoner Spells.

Plus, Cleanse works very similar to, not QSS, but Mikael's Crucible. The only difference is you can use it while stunned, unlike Mikael's.

The Bíg Ticket1 votes

Cleanse also removes ignite and exhaust.

Vistha Kai1 votes

It removes damage portion of Ignite (heal debuff stays for the whole duration) and Exhaust since it's basically a slow debuff.

Not a news here.

I have to laugh because whenever I play Malzahar, there seems to be a 25% chance that my opponent will take Cleanse.

you can cleanse a zed ult?

you can cleanse a zed ult?

with item 3140 yes, since it counts as a debuff

If you could take a summoner spell for suppressions there'd be no reason to ever play Malzahar like he is. Hard countered before the game even starts.
