While I don't think Kass even needed a nerf this patch, I do have an idea for a simple fix that would enable more counterplay. So, my idea is that first, revert the changes in this patch to Kass. Now, simply move his shield from his Q to his W. If that makes his W too overloaded, well, there are a lot of really easy fixes for that.
I agree, they should make his Riftwalk go the range it was pre nerf. Its pretty much rift step now. Maybe give his E the shield? So he doesnt have it up that much. Sounds good to me.
I like the ideas of just scaling his ult range with however many points you put towards it, similar to the noc ult. I've also seen another idea that could kinda work where they decrease the range per stack used on the ult for example press r once 750, twice 650, three times 450 or whatever.
I really just wish they never touched him he was perfectly fine and easy to deal with, hes so misunderstood because people banned him so much for no reason.
