@Riot Morde community/pros/the world now see his rework is horrid. Can we get old Morde back?

I never understood why he was changed. Please explain how this new travesty is any better than the old Morde that no one had real issues with. Countless people have said that adjusting this new creature's numbers will make him useless or OP. Countless threads have asked for either a revert, or adjusting skills. And when skills were adjusted, the wrong part was changed..

The league community has told you for over a month via bans, legitimate threads giving feedback (MM), QQ threads, etc. Now apparently there is an experimental change headed Riven's way, and already you're being apprehensive. Why not listen to our feedback for Morde too?

Is there actually a Riot employee that thinks this new Morde is healthier than the old Morde? Is there really a Riot employee that thinks the community won't be (at least) happier with the old Morde?

I really liked the old Mordekaiser. He was one of the only two champions that I had bought skins for with actual money. The other was Sion, who was also overhauled into a new champion... I am starting to feel like all of my mains get deleted and replaced with new champions who just happen to have the same name.

I would really like to see Mordekaiser reverted back to the pre-DFG-removal state. He was essentially balanced (48-51% winrate but low pickrate) back then before he started being "compensated". Now, I find myself not wanting to play Mordekaiser even when he isn't banned. I am fine with Morde being viable in bot lane, but not at the expense of his longstanding primary roles top/mid. I feel like the developers should have started experimenting with bot-lane juggernauts via a brand new champion, rather than dragging Mordekaiser's existing playerbase along for this awful ride.

In my opinion, Mordekaiser should be rolled back to his last generally accepted state (patch 5.2 if I recall), then tweaked from that point. I think it would be okay to leave the revenant dragon mechanic (it's kind of interesting), but it shouldn't be focal to his kit. I feel that the dragon ghost shouldn't be a major part of Mordekaiser's power budget so it should be balanced accordingly - even if that means the dragon ghost needs to be kept very weak. Also, the changes to Mordekaiser's passive, causing his shield to scale with health more than damage dealt, also seem reasonable enough to be kept. In my opinion, the rest of the rework should be removed and perhaps used as inspiration for a brand new champion's kit if desired.

Clearly Riot has some double standards: when it comes to popular champs with fan bases, their are carefull as fuck (see: Lee Sin and recently Riven). But, when they are changing less popular champions, they just don't care, they know that the outrage won't be too big and that those champs will probably get forgotten after some time with single threads coming up once per maybe month (see: Cassiopeia and recently Mordekaiser). It's sad, but as we see it right now, very true.

I whole heartedly agree. They've already said this was an experimental and (at best) band-aid rework to hold him over until they could get to work on a sion tier relaunch. They've created the next Poppy with this rework, something so broken on a fundamental level that he will either be OP or totally useless. He's more binary, more restricted, more oppressive, and even less synergistic than he ever was before. he's a mess of scalings, ranges, and roles with no clear direction but "kill whatever gets in range or die trying".

the problem with old mordekaiser is that he didn't offer anything really unique. His ultimate is somewhat cool if you can get it on ADC, but there was no real reason to bring him into the comp.

the problem with new mordekaiser is that they tried to put him in a duo lane and in order to make that work they had to make him oppressive.

I do like that he can control dragon. even if it feels op or broken, that IS a reason to bring him into a comp. the 3 Q's concept is alright as it is hard to land 3rd Q....numbers a bit high right now though.

But his sustain and oppressiveness in a duo lane with the exp boost is just obnoxious. an alistar/mordekaiser lane is impossible to push out and anyone who has played against will attest to that. they just shove and heal up. rinse repeat, get rylais and rip you a new butthole.

There has to be some way of getting him into a solo lane again with new abilities focused on him...and not reliant on a melee support with him.

Cause that means Riot doesn't get the final say, and we're not allowed to have a different opinion 99% of the time.

I love that the reason he was reworked was because he was too "toxic". Yet he is now about 100 times more toxic than ever. Just revert him back with the ability to get the dragon pet and everyone will be happy.

The old Morde was a problem too. He'd build up a shield while pushing lane nonstop (a problem the old Sion had with his W. Well, when Sion went AP at least. AD Sion had its own problems), his only weakness was kiting, any changes to him would either make him ridiculously powerful or not powerful enough because of his kit, his kit had little synergy with itself, and his ultimate effectively scaled with how fed the enemy was. Also, I am not putting CC as a weakness because all champions, even those who can cleanse it occasionally like GP, Olaf, and Alistar, are weak to CC.

Granted, the Mordekaiser rework fixed only one of those problems (stopping the perma-pushing by making his Q single target) and actually added some problems too (cough) ghost dragon, free experience from last hitting, atomizing people with the third Q hit (cough). However, reverting Mordekaiser back to his former state will not fix anything. In my opinion, he needs a large rework. Maybe not a Sion/Poppy level rework, but it still has to be large. Also, that rework has to get rid of his ultimate (the active and the new dragon passive) and his W passive. No champion should get a level advantage JUST BY LAST HITTING.

BTW I am happy about E's new delay. Now it actually has counterplay.

At this point a Reversion to old Mordekaiser would be a step back.
What we need is for Riot to engage in a community driven rework. (Like they did with sejuani and poppy).

Completely rework him (Sion level)

And release it with a. Harrowing event next year

Hate how they focused most of his power on his Q because E does no dmg now and the shield regain isnt what it used to be.

If they do give him a sion level rework they should keep in mind his core identity.

To me its 3 things.

  1. AoE damage. 3 of his abilities are AoE or at least used to be pre rework

  2. Passive iron man

  3. Ghost ultimate.

One last thing would keep him as a Mage/Bruiser he shouldn't be a tank.

The way i see it is just that it really seems like a lazy rework, it makes sense that he swings his mace around to smash things but he remains too easy to kite considering he has no CC. Plus his Q just feels bad to use, he needs a proper rework, half his kit doesn't suit the juggernaut theme, in fact, Darius is the only one who does, although a bit over tuned, what Morde needs is some good old CC in place of his Q that makes him actually feel like a juggernaut. His kit cannot be balanced without CC, he will either be terrible or broken. This is the same as Akali, no CC just means there is a really fine line they have to walk in terms of balance, and because of this all it takes is a small buff to an item or a slight change in meta to send them rampant again, then they get slammed with a Nerf again until Riot reworks them into something that can be balanced, like Sion or even Poppy.

That's why he's constantly banned in tournaments now? Completely useless right?
