Queue Dodging and the Honor System
Hey Riot,
I've played League for a long time. This is the first time I've ever taken the time to write my opinion about an aspect of the game, with the hope that you will take this request very seriously.
Some context. I'm a family man: wife, 3 kids, full time job. Love to play League when I have some spare time. Why am I pointing this out? Because when I do have time, I don't have a lot of it, and I'd really rather be spending my time playing the game I love and less time trying to get into a game that I can actually enjoy.
This takes me to my request. I literally just queue dodged a game right now because my team decided it would be awesome to have a Twisted Fate bot lane (I queued up as support), with a Sona jungle. Now... everyone has the freedom to play what they like. I'm not saying they shouldn't. But when I'm presented with this team, and I decide that I don't have time to play a game knowing this wouldn't be an enjoyable experience for me, I really... really want a way to do that without being penalized.
I understand we need the queue dodge penalty in a general sense. It is necessary. People just leave for all kinds of dumb reasons, and it makes getting into a game really hard without it. I'm not suggesting that we just open it up completely. However, I am suggesting that there should be some some of built in leniency. For example, perhaps folks that on average play well with other folks, and have a good honor level maybe, should be afforded a couple / few dodges a day without suffering a penalty. This would save me and others like me valuable time when all I'm trying to do is get into the game that I really like playing.
I also don't think having such a system would be easily taken advantage of. Those that would normally dodge numerous times still can't do so, and more than likely they would not have a high honor level anyway.
Anyway, my queue timer is back up, gonna see if I can get into a game. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear back from you.
Regards,
Joseph
