Surrender Voting

When we surrender, shouldn't the majority of the votes win. 3 yes and 2 no. Its a waste of time if you know you're going to lose. Sure the 2 might think there is a chance but the majority of the voters should win the surrender vote. It makes no sense if nothing is going to happen. And when there are afkers or people who don't vote yes or no. Like you have to vote come on. It's legit a freaking waste of time if the majority voters just stay in a non-winnable game. Fix your surrender voting please Riot. I wasted my time in a game where I voted Yes and there were 2 people that voted nothing but the majority of the vote was a yes on surrendering. 2 yes 1 no. Come one riot if they didn't vote then whats the point of having a ff button....

I'd take this a step further. I think players should be allowed to leave games any time they want.

the point that you might as well do that if you make it so that we could leave games whenever we want without any consequences whatsoever? if you don't have enough time to play the game nor care about finishing the game you started then you shouldn't be playing to begin with. The game itself gives you an estimate of how long games lasts (30 to 45 mins!) so you have no excuse to leave the game just because you decided that "i have to go guys!"

In a team dependent game? Brilliant!

I used to play a lot of BGH games on Battle.Net when Starcraft Broodwar was at it's height. It was my first real experience with online team based gaming. There was no LeaveBuster, no reporting system. People could do and say whatever they wanted. People could leave lobbies and leave games anytime they wanted. There was no concept of punishment for any kind of behavior. As a League player you might be tempted to think that kind of environment would make the game unplayable but the truth is, it was far superior in terms of quality of games and quality of people. Even after a year and some of playing League I'm still not used to all these ridiculous restrictions and the highly hostile nature of the League community in general. If it's one thing I learned playing in these two different environments, it's that more freedom is better.

You see in League, if a guy feeds all to fuck, he knows as mad as the other 4 players might get, they can't do anything about it. They could trash talk him, but they would get punished. They could leave the game, but they will get punished. He has no incentive to not feed in future games.

However in Starcraft, if a guy dies to some noob shit like a 9 pool rush, his team mates will more than likely simply leave the game rather than trying win with a man short and if they see him in a future lobby, they will leave the lobby, often times with a comment about how noob this dude was. This resulted a lot of the time in other players leaving the lobby to avoid playing with this dude. This guy learns very quickly that if he doesn't stop dying to 9 pool rushes, nobody will want to play with him and his experience will be miserable. People will leave games when he fucks up, his record will get bad(win/loss ratio was a big thing in the BGH community) and competent players would avoid him like the plague when they see some shit record like 409-1233. This dude would very quickly learn to stop dying to noob shit competent players know how to deal with.

I've seen many players throughout my years on Battle.Net improve their play significantly in a short space of time because the "big boys" won't invite you to quality games like stacked pubstomps or in-house games(innies they were called) if you were a shit head like your typical League Bronze player that refuses to learn and constantly blames everyone. No one was forced to stay in a game with you and listen to your endless whining like they would have to in League of Legends. They would simply leave the game. And in the future, if they were hosting an epic inny or a simple stacked team pubstomp and you popped into the lobby, they would boot you. No one had to put up with assholes and noobshits who refuse to take advice on the old Battle.Net BGH community like we are forced in League which is why the League community is soooo fuckin toxic.

League desperately needs a free environment like this. Players are far better and regulating their own behaviors than any administrative authority.

Starcraft 2 killed the old Battle.Net BGH community but if today or tomorrow it were to come back, I would leave League in an instant without a second thought. Not because Starcraft is a better game or because League is bad or anything but because the over-all atmosphere of Battle.Net was far more enjoyable. There is nothing enjoyable about being forced to stay in a game for 30 minutes to watching your team mates feed non stop. There's nothing enjoyable about being punished because some little shitfuck has thin skin and reports you for calling him feeding asshole. I fuckin hate this about League. It's too restrictive over all.

So you would encourage a minority of players to be completely shamed out of a game simply based off a single/few bad games? Everyone has their awful games, be realistic.

The main part of your argument draws attention to a completely different type of game. I've played many RTS games, competitively in a few. There's nothing the same in this team game vs those team games. Star craft is a numbers based game backed with micromanagement. The sheer hit/toll you take from losing one player/teammate in a competitive environment will insure a loss if equal skill across the board. However, in league, a player can have an abysmal game and still win. That's because they're not being directly taken out of the match when they have a poor show. You have the opportunity to change your strategy at that point, you're no longer shooting for the mid game win, you're taking this to the end game.

You can't compare two different games believing something that worked in another will work across the board.

This, this is why you believe this way. You yourself barely break the threshold of being "typical League Bronze player that refuses to learn and constantly blames everyone," but come in here with such a plea because you're part of those games. You would think being a part of those games and coming across these instances you yourself would "improve .. significantly .. " in order to get away from these bronze players.

I'll give you the benefit of stating it would be a nice feature in noncompetitive modes, but just that. If you're in a competitive environment and you have a teammate that does poor you're just as bad when you want to quit and move on. There's no sense of competition there. Honestly, if this game's to hard you can just as easily boot up Starcraft, no one's stopping you.

A bad game is going 0-2 in lane and losing your tower in 20 minutes. Your team mates still have a chance to carry. A bad game is not going 0-8 in 10 minutes. That just you being feeding noobshit. Your team mates are unlikely to be able to carry that. If you're feeding 1 kill per minute you should be shunned. I don't care if your Plat 1 or Bronze 5.

You missed the point. It's not about whether the game can be won. It's about me being forced to play a match I want to be out of. Hearing the announcer call double kills for the enemy team every 2 minutes is one of the most demoralizing things that can happen. Unless I'm on some kind of hot win steak where I'm feeling like a God that can carry any game, I don't give a flying fuck whether the game can be won or not. I want out. I should not be force to play with people I don't want to play with.

And in the rare instance where I get so outclassed by an opponent in a ranked game that I feed out my ass, I want to be able to quit the match if I feel as though I can't do anything.

This, this is why you believe this way. You yourself barely break the threshold of being "typical League Bronze player that refuses to learn and constantly blames everyone," but come in here with such a plea because you're part of those games. I don't target Bronze players specifically. I only mentioned Bronze because the mentality of being the perfect player that is kept down in Bronze by bad team mates is most highly pronounced in the depths of Bronze. But it could apply equally to Diamond players as well. If a Diamond player goes into a ranked game and feeds another Diamond player 10 kills in 7 minutes, it's just as bad as one Bronzie feeding another. The other players should not be forced to play with these players if they don't want to.

You see the point is not really about whether I can still win or not. I want the choice. I want to be able to choose whether I wanna stick it out or simply accept the loss and move on. Carrying feeders is part of climbing but there are times where it's so bad that the best thing you can do is accept the loss but you can't because no one wants to surrender. This happens very often.

In a competitive environment, nobody should be feeding 12 kills in 10 minutes yet I see it very often. Sometimes I feel I can still carry it. There are plenty of games where I carried feeders or someone on my team was able to carry but most times, I just want to leave. I would like to have that choice.

Honestly, if this game's to hard you can just as easily boot up Starcraft, no one's stopping you.

Starcraft 2 killing the BGH community is the only reason I started playing this game. Had the BGH community never died, I'd never be here. I remember friends trying to get me to play this and I resisted for years. People getting banned for shit talking, the inability to leave games, censoring curse words. I was like get the fuck out of here with that childish shit. I'd never play this. SC:BW eventually died and I gave League a try and here I am. If the old Battle.Net and the BGH community and ICCUP BW communities suddenly came to life again, I would be gone from here. I'm a huge fan of moderation free environments.

Then go play a single player game and stop ruining the experience for others. People play multiplayer games to play with other people. To be specific to this game, to work together with one another as a team to win. If you don't give a single shit when one thing goes wrong then don't even bother queuing. It's a waste of time for you, and certainly a waste of time for everyone else involved.

No one wants to surrender because; unlike you, they realize this is a competitive environment/game. If every game wasn't challenging this game wouldn't be fun. That's literally how competition works. It seems to me like you should be playing single player games as this is to rough of an reality for you to be a part of. It's not a single persons choice. When you play games that are multiplayer, it's just that... a group of player's collectively playing for the same goal. If one person doesn't give a single shit when something goes wrong the whole infrastructure of the game is broken. It ends up being a waste of time, and everyone gets mad at one another. It's the mentality like yours that continue to plague multiplayer games.

gg open mid.. I give up.. I'm not trying anymore.. IDC..

All statements I presume you are keen to writing out in your games. These type of players are the worst type. I'd take a flamer over kids that just don't care and give up.

"I'm a huge fan of moderation free environments."

Reality isn't free of moderation, even extending in to video games. In every respect without moderation the world would be a terrible place.

I have ways to force surrenders when I really want the game to be over.

If every time I look at you, you're feeding, and everyone else seems to be just like you, in that they can't stop feeding, losing dragons and towers. I don't give a flying fuck how winnable you think the game is, I don't want to play with you. End of story. You want me to give it my all, don't fuckin feed. Don't troll. Don't be an asshole to your team mates for you fuck ups. You do these things and I promise I would AFK or otherwise force a surrender blatently showing you I'm unwilling to try anymore, sometimes I don't even care about LeaveBuster. I'd rather wait 20 mins for five game than finish that game with you.

Let me rephrase then. Let players moderate themselves by allowing enough freedom to do so.

It sure seems to me that you expect perfection from each and every player when you yourself can't surely be perfect all the time? To me it sounds like you're just incapable of pushing through the rough. How do you expect to climb the ladder with this attitude? There's not a single thing you gain from this mindset that not playing the game would accomplish 100 times better.

I do climb. And quite a few games where people do bad and we still manage to win. I'm talking about those stompy games where one player or a couple players just feed uncontrollably. These are the games I want to leave. About 40% of games are like this.

The pressure for leagues was so high that after a while, 80-90% of all dota games were hosted by a bot from one league or another simply because players wanted a way to avoid playing with leavers.

I've never played Dota but based on how you talk about these "bot" hosted games, whatever they are, I'd say it was like our channels on the old BNet servers. BGH Pub games were horrible too, not because of leavers but because of the sheer amount of noobs there were so many that were simply uncarriable. Players responded by creating private channels where all the good players would hang out. If you encountered one of these players in a pub game and you had a good showing they would invite you to the channel. When you wanted high quality games, you would host what was called an in-house game where members would play vs each other. Some of the most epic and memorable BGH games were in-house games. When you wanted to relax a bit, you would host a pubstomp where you would stack 3 or 4 players and go out into the wild and stomp noobs. And if you encountered a good player in the wild, you'd invite them to the channel.

The point here is that the players were able to solve their own problems. If League was a moderation free game a similar thing would happen here and I'm sure it would be more enjoyable that what we have now. League is not bad by any stretch but I believe all the moderation and restrictions like being unable to leave games and dodge penalties do more harm than good.

It's been brought up many times over the years. Riot just doesn't care enough to change it (and apparently doesn't want to).
